Hi I'm Frances

I live in New York State and joined the Mormon church when I was 35. I am now 63

About Me

I was raised by good parents as a Methodist which was fine with me. In my early 20s I had some difficulties and began to doubt in God. I gave birth to a beautiful girl and saw what a miracle life is. Gradually, I came back to belief and resumed activity in the Methodist Church. When Mormon missionaries would come to my door I would politely turn them away. Then one day, when I was 35 I made an appointment with them, I have no idea why. I was not looking for any change was satisfied with my life. However as they explained the Plan of Salvation, I was impressed by the logic and fairness of it and thought "well that is really great if it is true." However, at that point I had no intention on acting on it; therefore I received no answer to prayers regarding the truthfulness of the message. That is the secret (not really a secret, though), real intent. Over the weeks I pondered the message and I really wanted to know, and finally one day as I was driving myself crazy thinking about "Is it? Is it not?" I prayed saying if He would tell me, I would do what he wanted me to do. I know he wanted me to join Jesus Christ's church. It was the right thing to do. This is a church led by Jesus Christ, where we receive his messages through our prophet, currently Thomas Monson, through the scriptures (the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Pearl of Great Price and the Doctrine and Covenants), and through personal guidance through the Holy Spirit. I am grateful to be a member.

Why I am a Mormon

As I explained before, I joined this church because it was part of God's plan for me. ONe of the greatest gifts I hae received is the gift ogf The Holy Ghost. Before membership I had no idea what the Holy Spirit was. BUt I found out quite quickly that we can feel a confirmation of the truth, a confirmation of God's love and receive guidance in our life. This is why I say it is a great gift. It was the Holy Ghost which testified that this is Jesus Christ's Church, so this is why I joined and continue for 28 years to be a member. Aside from having the most correct doctrine about God and his Kingdom, the church membership is a loving community. I cannot imagine living without them.

How I live my faith

Over the years I have been a teacher of the adult women, a missionary, the Music Chairman, Choir Director and Organist. I don't do anything spectacular, but every member is important, in the place they are "planted". I try to be a good example of a Christian and find that my compassion and patience have increased as I try to follow the example of Christ.
