Hi I'm Leslie Waldron

I'm from Detroit, Michigan. I am a college freshman at Utah Valley University. I'm a singer and an athlete. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been singing for as long as I can remember and it is one of my greatest passions. I've also grown up playing basketball; I played for my school in middle school and high school. And in high school I discovered my love for acting through theater. As a result I developed a desire to do some acting in films one day. I am currently in my first year of college and so far my plan is to major in Nursing (with possible Theater minor and I will do film on the side). I come from a family of five children and my older brother has severe autism.

Why I am a Mormon

I have gone through many hard trials in my life and I had two choices with these trials; I could have either let them build me up or destroy me altogether. I decided to let them build me up. That sent me on a quest to discover the truth. I was born and raised Mormon, so I was always taught that the restored gospel of Jesus Christ is true. However, I needed to know for myself. I took the things I was taught and applied them. I began reading my scriptures and saying my personal prayers, and in these prayers I asked Heavenly Father to help me know that the church is true. It didn't happen overnight. It was gradual and it took time, but I did receive answers to my prayers. The Holy Ghost confirmed to me that everything I had learned from my teachers and the scriptures is true. That feeling I had is a feeling that I will never forget. It was a feeling of pure peace and joy, a feeling that I never wanted to disappear. That is why I am a Mormon! Because nothing else in this world can bring such great and everlasting joy! I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the world. He came to the earth to die for us all so that we may live. He loves us that much. He loves me that much! I know that the Atonement was an essential part of God's Plan of Salvation. The power of the Atonement is undeniable. I know that as we use the Atonement to our advantage, we can and will be healed from all our pains and afflictions! I also know that Joseph Smith truly restored Jesus Christ's church and that we have the fullness of His gospel on the earth again. I know without a shadow of a doubt that this is His true church and that as we do as He commands us, we will be blessed and be able to return to live with Him again someday.

How I live my faith

Currently, my calling is ward missionary. With this calling, people help the missionaries teach nonmembers or less active members more about the gospel of Jesus Christ. Even though I live in an area where everyone is Mormon, I still find many opportunities to share the gospel because I go to a school where not everyone is Mormon or is actively practicing. I work at a cafe on campus and I often wear necklaces that are symbols of the church. I have had a lot of customers ask me about my necklaces. I tell them what they are, what they symbolize, and why I wear them. I live my faith by not only wearing things that establish my faith, but also by exercising and acting upon my faith. I pray daily, I read my scriptures daily, and I serve God's children as best as I can. I do all these things because I love my Heavenly Father and I want to do my Father's will. And because of my love for my Heavenly Father, I am preparing myself to serve a full time mission and dedicating 18 months of my life entirely to Him.
