Hi I'm Marisa

I'm from Dallas, Texas. I go to Brigham Young University.I'm a missionary in Kennewick,Washington. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of three girls going to Brigham Young University. I want to be a doctor when I grow up and starting this June I will be serving a mission in Kennewick Washington. In High School I lived life to the fullest by being in a full course load, a member and then captain of my High School's' Color Guard and an active member of all church activities. I love to read and hang out with friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the happiness it brings me could not be attained any other place. Even though I was born a member of the Church I still had my own conversion as a teenager. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet who restored the gospel to this dispensation. Being a mormon gives me opportunities to not only serve others but come closer to my Heavenly Father when I am feeling of less worth. I am a mormon because without it I would be so lost and my family would probably be broken up. I'm a mormon because only in this church can my family be together forever. I am a mormon because without the gospel I wouldn't be myself.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by getting up everyday and trying to live like my savior would have me live. I love my savior and Heavenly Father and hope to live with them again one day. I live my faith by trying to serve other people and using the lessons I have learned from living my life as a Mormon to make the world a better place.

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

Marisa
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believes that just like in these modern times we have a prophet who receives revelation and communicates with God and Jesus Christ. Our modern day prophet is President Thomas S. Monson who is authorized to use all of the keys of the priesthood. President Monson has two counselors-- President Henry B. Eyring and Dieter F. Uctdorf who both help the prophet in his duties. Show more Show less

What is the difference between attending a church and attending a temple?

Marisa
The difference between attending a church and attending a temple is the nature of participation. Everyone is invited to attend church to learn about the gospel of Jesus Christ. In the temple it is for members of the church who live their life in accordance with the will of God working to make sacred promises with God. The temple is the most special place for members of the church because it is Gods house and one of the only places he can visit us on the earth. The church buildings are free and open to anyone who would like to visit and hear the words of the Lord. Show more Show less
