Hi I'm Mahealani

I grew up just outside of Washington D.C. I always dance like nobody is watching. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love rowing, and never get tired of the exhilarating feeling of crossing the finish line during a race. The adrenaline does not get old. I met so many wonderful people and friends through that sport. Sometimes I think that I enjoy the water so much because it is in my blood, as I am Native Hawaiian. I am the oldest child of three, and love both of my siblings dearly-- most importantly I have a dog named Kona. We gave him a Hawaiian name so he wouldn't feel left out! He's my favorite and is my personal teddy bear. I am a student at Brigham Young University and am studying Biology. Animals and plants excite me! I hope to get some experience doing research and then hopefully, I will either become a high school biology teacher or will teach at a community college! I have been called on a mission for the church and I am super excited! I know that I have been called to serve in the Hawaii Honolulu Mission, and I couldn't be more excited to serve the people of my heritage.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up in this church and have had my ups and downs with my testimony. Sometimes horrible things would happen to me or to the people around me and I didn't understand how Heavenly Father could let these occurrences happen to these people. But then I realized, if we didn't have trials, then how could we be happy and know the difference? I started relying on my Heavenly Father through prayer. I knew that I could talk to him anytime or anywhere. He is ALWAYS there for me. I also know that my family is eternal and because we were sealed together in the temple, we will be together forever. That is so comforting to me, and I know that my Heavenly Father only wants us to be happy and feels his comfort because it hurts him when we are lost, hurt, or afraid. I hope that I can help people come unto Christ when I serve my mission so that others can feel Heavenly Father's eternal love, just like I do.

How I live my faith

For a little bit, I taught a religious class to all of the women in my ward. I loved having that calling and being able to interact with the women by hearing their great stories. Another teaching calling I had was with children. I got to teach children under the age of six! They were all so cute and you could see how much they loved the Savior, in the twinkle of their eyes. I have also been a member of the Missionary Committee and loved it! It was a great way for me to slowly ease into being a missionary for the church. Recently I have been called to be a missionary for the church in the Hawaii Honolulu Mission! I couldn't be more excited to serve the Lord and the people of my heritage. I know that every missionary is assigned exactly where they need to be.
