Hi I'm Kelly Anderson-Shields

I'm from California and I now call Kyle, Texas home. I'm a daughter, granddaughter, sister, and a BYU-Idaho student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Glendora, California on a Thanksgiving morning in November of 1995.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to have the gospel in my life growing up. I did not grow up attending every Sunday until I was about 13 years old. Since then, I have chosen to make an effort to attend Church each Sunday as often as I am able. I continue to be a member because I have felt the Spirit and have been blessed by the Gospel in many ways. This Gospel, the gospel of Jesus Christ, has given me hope and a way to frame my life around it. I have developed lifelong goals, including those related to marriage because of what I have learned. I know that through this gospel, anyone can feel the love that our Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ feel for each of us, both individually and collectively. Through this gospel, we are each given the opportunity to change for the better, and we have been provided a way to help strengthen us in our efforts. We have been provided an Atonement, which I am grateful for because it is an opportunity to choose each day to apply it into my life through repentance. I love opportunities to serve, either through a calling, or through general life experiences that come my way. I know that when I make an effort to serve others and look outside myself, that I am following Christ's example. I am a Mormon because I strongly believe in the teachings about families. I love my family with all my heart, and I want to be the best example I can be for those around me. I may not understand everything all the time, but I know that if I act in faith, that over time understanding will come. Living gospel principles allows me to test for myself the truthfulness of this gospel. I want my future family to have the opportunity to have the gospel in their lives and to choose for themselves if it is true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith one day at a time. I regularly set goals to improve, especially with habits such as daily prayer and scripture study. I have been blessed with many opportunities to serve in capacities within the Church that have helped me to grow my personal testimony. I have previously taught Sunbeams, which are Primary aged children of about 3-4 years of age. I enjoy Visiting Teaching each month, which is an opportunity to visit with and teach sisters in my congration. I love being able to develop lasting relationship with the sisters who I am partnered with and with those I teach. Teaching others helps me to learn more and to share my testimony at the same time. I am currently an instructor/teacher on Sundays over the sisters of the Church in the Young Single Adults ward I am in.
