Hi I'm Heather

I'm a Hoosier born and raised. I'm proud of my Amish heritage. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 2013. My life has changed in the best way possible! I'm from small town Indiana and I love spending time outdoors. I come from a long line of Amish people, even my mother was raised Amish! I'm proud of that heritage and it has shaped me into who I am today! I studied German in college before my mission to Madrid, Spain, and I enjoy learning about different cultures! Spending time with friends is my favorite thing to do and I love to cook meals! Growing up in a small town has shown me that hospitality is one of the greatest gifts, and that taking time to simply enjoy life is essential for happiness.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents have really been such examples to me and have pushed me to be the person I am today. My mother was raised in the Amish religion and she instilled in me the importance of self-reliance, both spiritually and temporally, and the importance of family. My parents raised me with high standards and a love for God and so when I met the missionaries, the gospel just made sense! I'm the only member of the church in my family, but my parents continue to support me and teach me. My friends are also huge examples to me. They're the ones who introduced me to the church and seminary. It is in seminary where I learned the power of the Book of Mormon and gained my testimony of its truthfulness. I think God prepares each of us in different ways, and looking back I can see how he set in motion my path to the church.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a full-time mission! I love it SO much! The missionaries helped me discover God's plan and now I have the wonderful opportunity to share it with others! I love reading the scriptures and sharing insights with others, as well as seeing the world from their point of view! I learn by having conversations with other people, both LDS and not. I believe we can all learn from each other! Through this I have been able to see God's love for each one of His children and the importance of His Plan of Happiness for us.
