Hi I'm Catherine Winder

I grew up in the four corners area of the United States. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a beautiful, small town in southeastern Utah. I'm the youngest of many, many children... which some would say makes me spoiled; my personal take is that it gave me character. I love to spend time with my family, read, write and cook. I attended Utah State University for three years. I recently received a mission call to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and will enter the Missionary Training Center on my 19th birthday. Although I'm a bit apprehensive about the struggles I may encounter in learning the language and teaching the gospel to people who know little to nothing about Jesus Christ, I couldn't be happier or more excited!

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. However, being born into a Mormon family is not why I'm a Mormon. I am truly thankful that I was born into a family who lived and taught me the gospel; growing up with this knowledge has been the greatest blessing of my life. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have a testimony of him and his restored church. I had to gain that testimony for myself by reading the Book of Mormon and praying to know of its truthfulness. It is true; I know this. I have grown in my knowledge and conversion through trials and struggles, and even failures. I know that Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, died for me, to atone for my sins. This knowledge strengthens me and helps me get through the hardest moments of my life. I know that young Joseph Smith prayed to the Father and received a direct answer--he saw Heavenly Father and His son, Jesus Christ! The prophet Joseph faithfully and prayerfully followed the directions they gave him throughout his life, even until his martyrdom. I know that by following the gospel -- living righteously and striving to be like Christ -- I can be with my family eternally. I am a Mormon because of this knowledge. The physical and spiritual blessings I receive from being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints completes my life and brings me peace. I would not trade this knowledge for anything.

How I live my faith

Because I have faith in my Savior and Redeemer, I live my faith by following his example. He loved and served others throughout his life. I am thrilled with the opportunity to serve the people of Cambodia, as a full-time missionary, a representative of Christ.
