Hi I'm Catherine

I was born and raised in Oklahoma. I love to sing and to entertain people, especially making them laugh!

About Me

I am 24 years old and I am a college graduate with a bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance. I love to sing, dance, act, and draw. I am always up to try new foods and experience new cultures, and I take great pride in my Panamanian heritage. I speak English and Spanish and I want to learn how to speak Portuguese--maybe just about any other language as well! I love to laugh and I love to make other people laugh too. I enjoy watching cartoons and action movies, and I am a big daydreamer! I'm not much of a talker, but I'm always listening! I'm very passionate about whatever I do, but I don't like competition (it makes me nervous haha.) I love animals and spending time outside, taking in all the beauty of nature. I have a desire to help influence people for good and to help them feel good about themselves and the people around them. I have a desire to leave this world better than I found it.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it has shaped me into a person that I doubt I could have become on my own. The Book of Mormon has helped me draw closer to Jesus Christ and has helped me recognize His role as my Savior and Redeemer more than anything else in the world. It has made me realize that the best way to live is through serving others and looking outside myself. I have seen miracles in my life, through the people I have met and the changes of heart they have gone through. I have experienced the healing power of Christ's Atonement very personally and I know that He lives because of it. It has helped me learn to love myself and to realize that I have great worth in the eyes of God, my Heavenly Father. Life is sweeter and richer, and I am better equipped to help the world because I'm a Mormon--a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

Usually I live my faith most through my music. I've had callings as music director/chorister and I always get recruited to sing in church choirs haha. I also love to teach and got the chance to serve as a Sunday School teacher--that helped me learn a lot about myself and about how I want to live. I was called to serve in the Florida Orlando Mission in 2015 and that has helped me grow leaps and bounds in my spirituality and my love for people. I learned who I wanted to become and the ways that it would help me achieve that goal, realizing that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and is rooting for me every step of the way.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Catherine
We believe our purpose in life is to learn and to grow! God, our Heavenly Father, wanted us and still wants us to become like Him--perfect. We came here to gain a body, make choices, have a family, learn to follow Jesus Christ, and do all we can to be able to return to our Father, having completed everything He wanted us to do.
