Hi I'm Erica Smith

I'm a writer, a college student, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a sophomore studying English at Brigham Young University. In my rare moments away from homework, I enjoy blogging and creative writing, but I never say no to adventures that take me away from the computer. I love travel and being outdoors. I spend my summers swimming and wakeboarding. I'm the only girl in a blended family with three younger brothers and an older half brother. I am currently working towards and waiting to serve as a full time missionary.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised within the Church, so that's how I became Mormon, but that's not why I am a Mormon. I like to study things out in my mind and observe the way they impact my life before I decide what I believe. The more I look for it, the more I see that the gospel has been the greatest source of light and happiness in my life. I love knowing I can turn to God with any trouble, great or small, and he will give me guidance if only I am willing to listen. I love the support I get from other members of the Church and I am continually awed by the sisterhood of Mormon women.

How I live my faith

My faith influences a lot of things in my everyday life. It inspires me to speak kindly, reach out to people who are struggling or lonely, and provide service because I understand that everyone is a beloved child of our Heavenly Father. It keeps me honest in my education and encourages me to seek out good friends who share my standards. I make scripture study and journal writing part of my daily life.
