Hi I'm Don

I love where my life's decisions have taken me. I am a retired math teacher here in Utah.

About Me

I have been married to my wife for 35 years, we have three daughters, three son-in-laws and 6 grandchildren. I was baptized at 8 years old, but didn't make it back to church for 12 years. I spent those 12 years skiing, golfing and motorcycling.

Why I am a Mormon

As I mentioned before, I was not participating as an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for several years as a youth. I spent most of my time working to make enough money to ski and golf. Although I had allot of fun during that time, I felt like something was missing. I was having fun, but didn't feel like I was heading in the right direction. I wasn't becoming the person I could be. I finally did what I have learned Joseph Smith did as a youth. When I was about 20 years old I started searching for something better and caught the vision of who I was one evening. I knew that what I wanted only came through prayer. I opened up the family bible and found, by accident, the Lord's Prayer and began reading it over and over again. I love knowing and teaching the answers I had been wanting to know. I am so grateful for what I learned as I read those verses over and over.

How I live my faith

As a result of missing so much while I was not active, I have spent extra time trying to gain what I had missed as a youth. I love saying my prayers and studying the Gospel as much as I can. I am responsible for the Sunday School in my area, and have a chance to teach the adults once a month. I find myself studying and thinking about what I will teach each day and love the spirit I feel when I do. I care for two older couples in my neighborhood as a home teacher. I currently work in the temple here locally and am preparing to travel to Japan for 18 months to serve as a missionary, helping in the office there.
