Hi I'm Jolynn "Mouse" Espinoza

I grew up in CA. I've lived by the beach and in the desert.

About Me

I have been married 43 years, my husband and I have raised 6 children and we have 24 beautiful grandchildren. I love writing, sculpting and baking. I love to create recipes, especially for desserts. I made wedding cakes for years and loved the challenge. Recently I started sculpting. I was looking for statues of the prophets of the Book of Mormon but could not find any so I decided to create my own. I have sculpted Abinadi, Nephi and the Brother of Jared. I think I like this the best.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 16 I went to live with my sister. She was expecting a baby and her doctor had her bedridden. She had a 2 year old that was a typical 2 year old, very active. I went to help her. During my stay with her she introduced me to the Mormon missionaries. I began to take lessons and study the gospel in a way I had never done so before. I was raised in a different religion and as a family we did not really read the Bible. As a mater of fact, the only time I remember us praying together was at Thanksgiving and Christmas when my father would read from a little black book a prayer that lasted about 1 minute. Now I was reading the Bible for myself. The missionaries told me about another book that had the word of God, the Book of Mormon. After hearing the account of Joseph Smith's first vision I felt in my heart that this was true. The Book of Mormon was intriguing to me. I felt it was a book like no other. As I read from its pages I knew this was the word of God. There was a special feeling I would have while studying with the missionaries. Everything seemed to make sense and everything was so clear. For the first time in my life I felt like I had been in darkness and here was light. I agreed to be baptized. As I stood outside the door leading to the baptismal font terrible thoughts of doubt entered my mind. "What if this is a hoax? What if Joseph Smith is not a prophet? What if you are wrong and making a mistake?' As I stood at the door I looked up toward heaven and said a prayer in my heart and told my Heavenly Father that I believed this was right, but if I am wrong, if this is not His church then know this I am doing this because I am only trying to follow my Savior, and only trying to come home to Him. I pushed the door opened and walked into the font. Since that day I have had numerous occasion where the spirit has testified to me that this is the Church of Jesus Christ in these latter days. I now know for myself without a doubt.

How I live my faith

For many years I served in the women's program of the church. I was responsible for organizing our activity nights. We had so much fun, we learned how to cook, change the oil in the car, repair holes in textured walls in our homes, made numerous crafts, shared stories and experiences of our children, had fun playing games, and enjoyed spending time together. Everyone has a story and everyone has talents. The best part was getting to really know the women, the things they were interested in and the many talents they had. I served with the youth of the church, we went to camp together, we gave them cooking lessons, taught them how to be leaders, helped them to plan activities, but most importantly we taught them to follow their Savior, Jesus Christ. Watching them grow into beautiful young women who understand their purpose in life was very rewarding.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Jolynn "Mouse" Espinoza
I love the Book of Mormon. It is a voice from the dust. It is the writings and experiences of the prophets of God on the American continent. It is a history and a witness to all of us that our Heavenly Father is God of the whole earth and he remembers all of his children and he speaks to all. Out of the mouth of two or more witnesses shall God's word be established. The Book of Mormon is another witness that Jesus Christ lived, and died, and that HE is the Son of God and he redeemed his people. He offers His gospel to all people, in all generations, and his plan for happiness is for all men everywhere who will open their hearts to feel and their hears to hear His glorious message. He Lives! He Lives! He loves us. Show more Show less
