Hi I'm Hailey Macho

I grew up in Southwest Washington. I'm a soon-to-be nursing student. I'm currently a Missionary in Columbus, Ohio. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Growing up, my family moved around a lot for various reasons. Right before I started middle school we finally moved to La Center, WA (a little town near Vancouver). La Center quickly became one of my favorite places. I started to play sports, became involved in many different activities in high school, and eventually started working for a local restaurant. My adventures in La Center have led me to some of the most wonderful people I've ever met. I also the oldest in my big and crazy family! I wouldn't be where I am today without the support and companionship of my family and friends. Once I graduated high school, I made the decision to attend BYU-Idaho. And let me tell you, it was one of the BEST decisions I've ever made. I have never been happier than when I'm in Rexburg. In the future, I plan to apply for the Nursing program and graduate with my BSN. I will then become a labor and delivery nurse and help bring super cute babies into the world. :) Currently, I am putting my education on hold to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I will be gone for 18 months. I have been called to serve in Columbus, Ohio and will be speaking English on my mission! I leave for the Missionary Training Center on September 28th and I AM SO EXCITED.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the happiness that it brings to my life. I was raised in the church, but admittedly I relied on my mother's beliefs until I was about 14 or 15. At this time in my life, my parents were going through a rather nasty divorce and I realized that although my mother's beliefs were strong, they weren't mine. So in the years following, I made the decision to finally build my own set of beliefs. Even though I struggled at times, I was able to gain a real belief in my Savior and brother Jesus Christ. With this belief came a strong knowledge that every single thing happens for a reason. I now know that Heavenly Father is in the details of our lives! I have been able to feel so much peace and comfort because of this single principle. As my love for Christ has gotten stronger, it has gotten easier to lean on him with life gets really hard. A lot of people have questioned my decision to serve a mission. They don't understand why I would waste a year and a half of my life just to be in Ohio. I tried to answer them in the most simple way possible: I don't believe that this will be a waste of time, in fact I believe that it is what I need to do! And honestly, I am so so honored that I have the opportunity to serve Heavenly Father's children and be able to find those that need my help. I will also be able to grow as a person and learn so much about myself. This adventure will be one of the most life-changing, that is for sure.

How I live my faith

I believe that I live my faith by being an example daily! I try to be involved in service opportunities around my community, because I love to help others. I firmly believe that the best way to help people feel the love of Jesus Christ is to love them! I think sometimes people underestimate the magnitude of kindness. Things like being a good listener, helping someone with their groceries, and smiling at a stranger can go a long way.
