Hi I'm Rachel

I am a dancer. I am an Army Brat. I am a Mormon.

About Me

When I was about a year old my father joined the Army. Since then I have moved around eleven times with my family. We were relocated to Maryland, Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Iowa, Hawaii, and multiple times to Utah. I loved to play sports, but every time we moved I was taken out of that sport and started a new one in the new area we lived. Though, when I was about thirteen I was invited to attend an International Folk Dance camp with my cousin. I have attend that camp for the past five years. Now, I love to dance. I love learning about other cultures through their dances. As I now attend Brigham Young University, I plan on trying out for the International Folk Dance Ensemble as soon as I return from my year and a half mission in Mexico.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family of nine. Being a Mormon is something I've been my entire life. At a time though, I did not believe Heavenly Father existed. After a move, making friends, then being rejected, I felt alone in the world. I did not think anyone cared, or that I even mattered enough for someone to care. Then as I could no longer stand, I fell to my knees, pleading with God to know if He was there. As I now look at the beauty that this world holds, the opportunities I have, and the things I have learned, I see that there is no way that He CAN NOT exist. I am so grateful for what He has taught me, and for His help in lifting me off of the ground and pushing me to become who I am today. I now know in perfect surety that God does live. He loves me, and He loves you. He showed me not only that He lives, but that this gospel is His gospel. I am so grateful for His gospel He has taught me, and the knowledge I have of its truth.

How I live my faith

At church I have the opportunity to teach the gospel to the youth. I also have to opportunity to visit with my neighbors, ask how they are doing, and serve them. The best way I live my faith though, is by being a friend. As the gospel in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints encourages members to become like Jesus Christ, we see that we are being taught to love and serve others. By being a friend to those who are around me I can try to share with others how much the Savior loves them by loving them myself.
