Hi I'm Matthew Taylor

I was born and raised in San Diego, California. I am a history buff. I'm a Mormon

About Me

One one things that I love most is learning about history. Every time I sit in a history class or reading a history book, I think it is just awesome to learn about the past. Top it off, the more we understand about the people in the past, the better off we are for the future. As the old saying goes, "those who don't learn from history, are doomed to repeat it." There is a reason why we should learn history so that we can avoid the mistakes our ancestors have made. Some other hippies interests that I have are: I play video games (at a moderate level), I also do some fencing, I like Dragon Ball Z, and more importantly I enjoy spending time with family and friends. Currently, I am at Brigham Young University-Idaho and my major is History Education.

Why I am a Mormon

Recently, I was thinking about the term Grace and how it can help me change. Yes, we are saved by Grace, but we can also be changed by it. One thing about me is that I like things to be done right and no mistakes to happen. But of course, in this life, we are bound to make mistakes. No one likes to make mistakes because it can be embarrassing for ourselves and for our friends and family. In my case, every time I made a mistake on something, whether it be in sports, homework assignments, or even church callings, I always tend to be very harsh on myself. But that is why we have the Atonement of Jesus Christ and Grace. It is because of these things that every time that we have faith, repent, keep the commandments of God, we would be able to be forgiven for the mistakes we have made, start over and try again. I also found that even though that we can't (and shouldn't) forget about the mistakes we have made, we need to learn from these experiences so that we don't make the same mistakes again. I know that this Church is true and I know that as we continue to repent and keep the commandments of God, we will have peace and happiness in this life and eternal life in the life after this one. Some people say that rules are restrictive, but I disagree. They help us improve. And that is the point of our existence, it is to improve in all things physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. That is what I love about this Church is that we are meant to progress and become better, and we can do that by keeping the commandments and rely on the Grace of God. As we do these things, we can know that not only are we be saved by Grace, but we can be changed by Grace. I know that these are true and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Leeds, England and in several areas in the Northeast part of England. It was hard, but it was completely worth it. While on my mission, I have met a lot of people. There were some who were quite rude to me and my missionary companions, there were some who weren't even bothered, but there were this who listened to us with open hearts. I have seen a few of those get baptized and I have seen some trying to get their lives in order to accept the gospel. Either way, it was in those moments that made my mission worth it. To see people try to turn their lives around and be happy. That's one of the things that helps me do what ever assignments or callings I receive in the church. I do some of these things so that other people can be happy. It is by helping (not forcing) others be better people that can help us be happy in this life.
