Hi I'm Amanda

I'm attending BYU with the hopes of becoming a bioengineer. I'm serving a mission in Chicago, Illinois. I'm a Mormom.

About Me

For the beginning of my life, I lived in New York City and I loved it. I've grown up for the most part in Utah Valley and I've been attending Brigham Young University. I'm currently studying to become a bioengineer. I love studying the miracles of life. Our Heavenly Father is so amazing to have created the incredible lives that he has. I love being able to study chemistry and biology and learn more about the world surrounding us. I'll now be taking an 18 month break from school to serve a mission in Chicago, Illinois and I'll speaking Spanish! I'm thrilled to be returning to a big city, but terrified to be speaking Spanish. I've studied German for five years, so I was pretty shocked when I read that I'd be learning Spanish. But I trust the Lord and I know that I need to be speaking Spanish is Chicago.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know of the reality and immensity of our Savior infinite Atonement. I could talk for hours about the Atonement and what it means to each of us. But to sum it up, the Atonement was the Savior's sacrifice for us so that we may return to live with our Father in Heaven. No unclean thing can dwell in the presence of God, and it's impossible for us to be perfect, so a plan was formed. This plan used mercy to satisfy the demands of justice. For a long time I felt as though I could never repay Christ for His sacrifice. And the simple truth is that I can't. But I can make Him proud of me as I strive each day to improve and do my best. I am a member of this church because I know that this is the only place I can find true happiness. I know that by living my life by following Christ example, I can be truly happy and I can improve and one day return to live with my eternal family where I will find even more joy.

How I live my faith

I try to reach out to the youth in my ward. I was one of them only a couple years ago. I know how hard it can be to fit in and make sense of this life. But I've found that by simply loving them, they realize how important they are and this allows them to gain confidence and self esteem that they lacked before. It sounds so simple, and it's not necessarily spiritual. Some of my favorite things to do are card game nights, Just Dance parties, or getting slurpees and sidewalk chalking kind things around the neighborhood. My faith believes that we are all spirit children of our Heavenly Father. I can testify that this is true. I have never met someone who does not have a light in their eyes that I know comes directly from their spirit. When we can remember who we are (children of God), we act differently. It becomes much more easily to love your neighbor, be patient with your younger brother, serve your friends, and share your love of the gospel.
