Hi I'm Katelyn Poulsen

I grew up mostly in Nevada. I'm preparing to serve a full time mission! I'm a Mormon and can't wait!

About Me

I come from an awesome family! I'm the second of 5 kids! A busy life with all our activities but there is no better support than right here. I'd say I'm the outgoing hermit of the clan. I'm a musical theatre performer! I've grown up studying voice, mostly super classical musical theatre and opera! With preparing for musical theatre also comes a lot of ballet, classic jazz, and tap classes! I've also had the opportunity to study contemporary and hip hop. I've had opportunity to also assistant teach in some of these classes with younger kids and let me tell ya... You learn a lot when you are teaching and trying to explain to little kids. I'm preparing to serve a full time mission and I can't wait!!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I love my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ! I was born into a Mormon family and was able to learn a lot step by step. I was baptized when I was 8 years old and that day has become more meaningful as I've gotten older. One of the things I treasure more as I grow up and face new challenges is the gift of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost warns me, comforts me, and protects me as I listen. I have grown to depend on following the Holy Ghost! One of the moments that really converted me to the gospel was the day I decided to serve a mission. A mission was NEVER in "my plan". The day I decided was a shocking one to me indeed. I woke with the overwhelming feeling I needed to serve. I prayed long and hard to know if this was true. I asked my dad for a priesthood blessing and then, without a doubt, I knew. It was really hard for me to except this and to have a desire to serve. As I read the Book of Mormon for the first time, chapter by chapter, my heart began to change and soften. My will began to turn to the Lord's. Now I can't wait to serve and am more proud to say, I'm a Mormon and I know this church is true!

How I live my faith

I'm able to be apart of a group of girls close to my age and we meet up once a month to have some fun and talk about what we can do to better follow Jesus Christ. We call it visiting teaching. I also am apart of Institute! It's a program where young adults from 19-30 can go to take classes to grow in our faith and understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ and sometimes they even give us free food... And I mean who doesn't want that? The Institute will hold some dances through out the year, service projects, and various activities to keep us having fun, making friends, and actively engaged in doing good!
