Hi I'm Autumn Schley

I was born in Vietnam. I grew up in an orphanage. I was adopted when I was 13 yrs old. Now I have my eternal family. I am Mormon.

About Me

As a little girl I was homeless living on the streets in Ho Chi Minh City. I would beg for food. Later a kind woman took me into her home and notified the authorities about me. From there I went to live in an orphanage. When I was 13 years old I was adopted by an American family and came to live in the US. I lived with that family for only one year when they decided to end my adoption for no fault of my own. When I was 14 years old I was adopted by my current and forever family. My family taught me the gospel of Jesus Christ and I was baptized as a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am so grateful to my Heavenly Father for guiding to my family. I have never been happier.

Why I am a Mormon

I have a testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. What is beautiful about the church is that you don't have to take my word for it. You can study the gospel and pray about it and find out for yourself if it is true. That is what I did. I was 14 years old when I joined the church. I learned about the gospel from my parents, church leaders, and the missionaries. But it wasn't until I prayed about it and felt the Spirit for myself testifying that it was true that I joined the church. I encourage everyone to do the same. Because Heavenly Father will answer your sincere prayers, just like he answered mine.

How I live my faith

I have had many callings in the church. I was Laurel Class President in the Young Women program. I enjoyed planning activities for myself and the other girls in our youth program. After High School I was called as the Young Women Camp assistant. I have always enjoyed girls camp and was so happy to be able to to attend as a leader and support the girls in my ward. IN my singles ward I was the Linger Longer Committee Chairperson. We planned twice monthly activities after church that involved serving food and helping our ward members get to know each better and make lasting friendships. I am currently a Primary Teacher in my family ward. I love teaching the children about their Savior and gospel Principles. When they hug me and tell me they love me and love my class I know I'm doing the Lord's work. I also recently received a mission call. I will be serving the Lord in Vietnam as a missionary. My life has come full circle from my childhood in Vietnam to being able to return as a missionary.
