Hi I'm Pat

I'm from Las Vegas, Nevada, and grew up a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife to a great guy, a mother of five children, all are grown and married. I am a grandmother of 23 cute and awesome grandchildren. I love music--singing and dancing and playing the piano. I enjoy the beauties of nature and people. I have made wonderful friends throughout my life. It's always fun to see them again, even when time has passed, as the connections are just easy to renew. I graduated from BYU with a degree in Business Education, and taught high school for 2 years and community college for 2 years. But the courses I taught--typing and shorthand--are obsolete (but I still use them!!) I am an optimist and a generally happy person. I am a senior citizen now and still love life!!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in an active Mormon family and it always felt good to me. When I was in college, I was challenged by other people to "find out for myself." They thought I only thought it was true because it was what I had always believed. So I read the Book of Mormon several times in addition to the Bible, and prayed to know if it was the word of God, if it was true. I received the most warm and peaceful feeling all over, and knew that it was the church God had organized for us on this earth, to help us return to live with Him again. Over the years of my life, I have received many answers to questions which have come in many different ways. I can recognize the hand of God throughout my life, and have enjoyed numerous witnesses of the Spirit about many different parts of the Gospel. I feel so blessed! Because our church teaches the eternal nature of the family, I have always been comforted, especially on the passing of my father when I was 17, and the passing of my mother 30 years ago, when I was in my 30's. Over the years, I have lost all my grandparents and almost every aunt and uncle. In each instance, I have felt the Spirit comfort me and give me peace that I would see them again and enjoy a renewed association with them. I know my Father in Heaven lives and loves me, and that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer.

How I live my faith

I feel that my religion is a 24/7 kind of thing. I love to go to church and partake of the Sacrament. I love the Sabbath Day and try to spend time in the scriptures and listening to good music and talking to family all day. I have taught classes to young children, youth, and adults. I enjoy it most when a good discussion gets going with everyone contributing good thoughts and ideas. I do not enjoy negativity. We have a wonderful program in our church that encourages us to visit other members of our congregation each month. This is such a great way to get to know and serve others. We strengthen one another and help one another. And because the teachings of the church and the structure are the same all over the world, I never feel alone whenever I visit other places. I walk into any LDS church building and feel instantly at home. It feels so peaceful and good!
