Hi I'm Ada Carpenter

I am a mother of 9, a grandmother of 30 (so far) and I love the gospel of Jesus Christ, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother to 3 girls, and 6 boys, and we are blessed with 30 wonderful grandchildren so far. I am an avid reader, I love quilting, baking cakes, doing genealogy and making people happy. I waited until all of my children were in school to complete my college degree in Library Technology. I worked in school libraries for the next 20 years. I loved helping children and High School Students find the joy in reading, finding just the right book to interest them. I make cakes for fun and enjoy giving them to others. I rarely eat my own cakes, but everyone tells me they are really good. I like researching family history making sure I have the right connection and so appreciate everyone everywhere who has made this work easier with all of their work extracting and finding records to make them available to us.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because my parents were converted just before I turned 8. They wanted to raise their family with God as a part of it. We live out of town and it was a hardship for us to get into town to meetings, so we weren't a very active family. When we moved to Snowflake, I was so excited to be able to walk to the church building. I had 2 very special friends who always made sure to include me in their activities and because of their testimonies, mine grew. When I went to college, I attended classes at the LDS Institute and gained my wonderful friends and continued strengthening my testimony. When I was married in the Temple my husband and his family set such a wonderful example of the true love of Christ that I knew I had made the right choice to stay active in spite of all the ups and downs in our family. I have a testimony of Jesus Christ. I know that he lives. I know that he died for us so that we might return to our Heavenly Father again. It brings me great comfort to know that He is there for me. I cannot imagine where I would be without this knowledge. As I read the Book of Mormon I marvel that the Lord preserved these records for us to have in these modern days to back up the knowledge we gain from the Bible. I have tried to be a good example of Christ's teachings, not always succeeding but I keep on trying. I love the Lord, I love this Gospel, I would love for you to check it out.

How I live my faith

My husband and I have been in the BSA program since 1983 and love the scouting program. We got involved because we had 6 boys. We have loved every minute of it and hope we have touch the hearts of some of the boys and leaders we have served. I have served as primary teacher (my favorite calling), Relief Society teacher, Visiting Teacher, and Music leader. I love finding new pieces of music that have been submitted to the church. There are some absolutely beautiful numbers there for us to share with our wards, and I do so on a regular basis. I love music too and love to sing.
