Hi I'm Shaylyn Black

I grew up in Utah for most of my life. I love music, to learn, and the beautiful outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I moved a lot as a kid, but grew up mostly in Utah. I love the beauty of Utah, and am so grateful I got to grow up there. I am putting college on hold for 18 months, while I serve an LDS mission. I will be serving in Japan from February 2016-August 2017. When I am done I will finish school. I am a Biology with a human emphasis major, and plan to go to school to become a Physicians Assistant. I love music, and sports. Football and soccer are my favorite, but I like to play any sport. I love the outdoors; I love to fish, camp, hike, stargaze, if it is outside I probably like to do it.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, because I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church on the earth today. I know this because I have prayed for myself to see if this is the right church, and I received my answer, and have no doubt in my mind that this is the true church. I know that it is led today through the Prophet Thomas S. Monson, who is called by God to lead and to guide. I also know that Joseph Smith was a Prophet, and he did translate the Book of Mormon, and restore the Gospel, and this church to the Earth. I am a Mormon because I know the Book of Mormon, is a true book, and that it gives me guidance as I read from it daily. I am a Mormon because of the goodness the Church teaches. It teaches about service, and how to achieve the ultimate happiness, and joy. I love that the church teaches you about your true identity. I know I am a Daughter of God, and that God is aware of me, and He loves me. I also know that God loves you. He loves every single one of us. I am a Mormon because I know it, I live it, and I love it.

How I live my faith

In my ward before my mission I was in charge of planning our weekly activities that we had, I lived my faith by serving as hard, and honestly as I could. I made relationships and bonds that cannot be broken as I served. I live my faith by serving an LDS Mission to help others find the happiness of the Gospel, and helping them understand that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the World. I live my faith by choosing standards to live by, that follow instruction given to the Church by Heavenly Father through Prophets on this earth. I live my faith by improving myself little by little, it cannot happen overnight.
