Hi I'm Sue Dunn

I grew up in Washington State. I worked as a para-educator for 18 years and now serve on the school board. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Washington State, graduating from High School in Seattle. I attended BYU in Provo, Utah for a short time. I was a single mom for eight years and remarried when my daughter was 10 years old. Now I have been happily married for almost 30 years. We have a yours, mine and ours family, five daughters and one son. I worked for an electric company for 12 years and then for the local school district for 18 years as a para-educator. I served a four year term on the town council eighteen years ago and now I'm on the school board. I love to sew, mostly quilts, play the piano and spend time with our 10 grandchildren. My husband and I enjoy traveling. I also help care for my 95 year old mother when I can.

Why I am a Mormon

Being raised a Mormon in a big city like Seattle gave me the chance to decide for myself if I believed the teachings of the Church. Most people around me knew nothing about Mormons so I could easily have chosen a different path. However, as I observed others, the way they lived and how confused they seemed about life I knew that I really did believed the things I had been taught. I know I am a daughter of a Heavenly Father that loves me and He wants me to be happy. I know Jesus Christ died for all of us not only for our sins but for all the heartaches and trials we have. If we show our faith in Him and lean on Him he will help us daily. I know He wants me to help and serve others and the Church has given me a lifetime of opportunities to do that. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the same church that Jesus Christ established while He lived on the earth. I also know that Joseph Smith is the modern day prophet that was chosen by our Heavenly Father to restore Christ's church back to the earth. I believe that because of the temple covenants I have made I will be able to live with my family in the next life. Being a Mormon gives me hope everyday!

How I live my faith

I grew up in a Mormon family and started serving in the church as a teenager working with young children once during the week teaching a church class. I have been a leader in the women's organization planning events, helping with food and other arrangements for funerals, making assignments for visiting and caring for all the women in the congregation and their families. I served in a leadership position teaching young women christian values in Sunday lessons and planning fun and faith promoting activities for them during the week. I have helped with various humanitarian projects that benefit local and worldwide needs. I served as a Cub Scout leader with the BSA for several years. For the last three years I have played the piano on Sunday while children ages 3-11 sing songs about the Savior, our Father in Heaven, and faith promoting values.
