Hi I'm Michael Hathcock

I was born and raised in New Mexico. I attended college and gained a bachelor's degree in communication disorders. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated high school in 2009 while being very sports involved. I played football and wrestled while I was in high school. I pursued college football and received a scholarship to play football for Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico. I played for 2 seasons before deciding to focus on my degree. In December of 2014 I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Communication Disorders. Since completing my degree, I have decided to serve a mission. I will be reporting to the MTC on March 9, 2016. I have been called to the Vanuatu Port Vila mission. I will be leaving for my mission at the age of 25. Prior to leaving on my mission I have been working as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant for an elementary school and a middle school.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized when I was 8 years old, but not become truly "converted" until I was 23 years old. At this time I was almost complete with my college degree and had began to encounter some extremely difficult times. Nothing in my life seemed to be going as "planned." I felt to be completely depleted and felt like I had no where to turn. I realized that sometimes we are brought to rock bottom so that we can realize that Christ is the rock on the bottom. Through gaining a relationship with my Savior in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints I have experienced an extreme amount of hope and peace. These feelings have helped my faith to build and become a devout member. I decided to serve a mission because I cannot imagine anyone's life to continue without having a relationship with our Savior. I want to help people and try to show them how great the restored gospel of Jesus Christ really is.

How I live my faith

I am serving as a Sunday school teacher and as a young men's leader. These church callings require me to prepare and teach people anywhere from the ages of 12 to any age older. I know that through these callings I am able to learn much more than I teach. Even the young men teach me lessons on a weekly basis.
