Hi I'm Doug

I grew up in a little farming community in Idaho, and had some wonderful non Mormon , and Mormon friends, and pleasant memories.

About Me

I graduated from High School in 1957. Joined the USAF serving in Texas, California, Korea and Florida. I met many choice people and have had wonderful experiences in each of the areas mentioned above. These experiences have strengthened my testimony of God and his goodness. I served in church callings in Korea, and Florida working with youth and adults. I also took some educational courses from the government while assigned Korea and Florida which have also became beneficial in my later life.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been raised in the Mormon faith all my life. But I gained my conversion while serving in the USAF in Korea. It was there I really studied, pondered and prayed about the Book of Mormon and attended a religious retreat in Japan. At that religious retreat other servicemen came bearing their testimony of various military experiences they had. There was such an outpouring of a spirit I had never felt before in my life. I felt like it must have been much like on the day of Pentacost where so many people were converted to the teachings of Jesus. I knew that God lives, and Jesus was his only Begotten Son. I knew he loved me with a love I cannot describe, or deny, and he has a plan of life and happiness that all man kind can share in. I know he is a loving and forgiving Father in Heaven. I have chosen to be an active Latter-Day Saint because of these experiences and impressions I have had and felt. I have gained patience, confidence, developed talents and leadership skills; I have learned how to listen and give counsel when requested. These skills have also helped me be a better parent and eternal companion.

How I live my faith

I have worked 25 years in various capacities of the Scouting program in my church callings. I have served two Latter Day Saints Church Missions and currently have been called to serve another. We love meeting people and sharing our feelings about the Lords plan of happiness. I have also served 19 years in the Bountiful Temple and loved meeting people from all walks of life. We have had youth groups come from Germany, adults and youth from France, Portugal, Spain, Korea and many other countries which have been an inspiration seeing the joy and happiness they feel while visiting this beautiful edifice.
