Hi I'm Leah

I am an amateur knitter, I love trying new things, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have been attending college for the past year and a half studying geology, but I am getting ready to leave for a mission for 18 months to serve the people in the China Hong Kong mission! For as long as I can remember, I have always loved just running around and exploring the outdoors. One of my favorite past times is hiking through the mountains- the world around us has so much to offer that I never quite feel like I've seen enough. I also love to cook and love to try out new recipes, even if sometimes they don't turn out quite like I imagined! I also love to do anything artsy (though I make no claim to being any good). A choice activity of mine would be anything involving working with clay in part because of the rewarding feeling I get after creating something that originally had no shape or purpose into something entirely of my own.

Why I am a Mormon

I have spent my entire life in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints but I don't think that I truly understood the magnitude of what this meant until I was a little older. I think that I understood enough and knew that going to church made me happy, but my true conversion came later. I am not a Mormon simply because of the environment in which I was raised or by mere chance, I am a Mormon because I have prayed for myself to know that The Book of Mormon is true and that this is the true church here on the earth today. I am a Mormon because I have seen and felt the change and power that the gospel has wrought upon my heart. And through it not only have I come to understand more about myself, I have also drawn closer to Jesus Christ who without doubt is our Savior and Redeemer. I truly cannot imagine what my life would be like without the gospel. Not a day goes by that I am not able to recognize at least one blessing in my life that has come as a result of my faith and perseverance. It is my sincere desire that one day I will be able to stand before God and have Him say unto me, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord."

How I live my faith

I try my best to live my faith by acting as a disciple of Jesus Christ. Because I am still striving for eventual perfection, I try to find new ways to improve myself and push myself past what I am capable of doing, but what is possible with the help and strength of my Savior. I will be serving as a full-time missionary, but missionary work is something that we can do each and every day. I try to "let my light so shine" so that others can see and feel the Spirit as I do through my example. Because we are the Lord's messengers and servants here on earth, I work to fulfill my callings and assignments that I am given so that I might be in a position to help and serve others.
