Hi I'm Tamara

I grew up in Fredonia, AZ in 4th grade we moved to Mesa. I am a dental hygienist. At 48 I'm back in college. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am seeking a degree in forensic dentistry so that I can be "Bones" off the TV series. I love taking pictures and scrap booking them. I am a Mom of two boys. This year I got to cross four things off my bucket list (which is too heavy to lift) In one trip I crossed off seeing Japan when I went to Okinawa, Japan to see my brother and his family. The second thing I crossed off my list was scuba diving. I got to be within an arms length of an octopus, I could have reached out and touched him but I was too scared. I also got to try zip-linning on this trip. What an experience that was, Yes I may be an adrenaline junkie. The most amazing thing I did while in Japan was to go to the temple there in Fukuoka, Japan. Yep that was the fourth thing off my bucket list. You see I have a goal to do temple work in as many different temples as I have the opportunity to visit in my life. The experience was nothing short of amazing because my brother is inactive and he flew to the other island with me, drove me to the temple and walked me into the front desk to make sure I had everything I needed. I enjoyed listening to the session in Japaneese and could feel the spirit witness to me the truthfulness of what was being taught. When I came out I was thrilled by what I saw, my brother had stayed on the temple grounds the whole time I was inside. I hope that he could feel the spirit, I hope that in some small way I may have had an influence on his feelings about the church.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe that a young boy, Joseph Smith saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ in a vision. I believe that he translated the Book of Mormon. I am reading the Book of Mormon again this semester and know that the stories he wrote were true then and beneficial for us in our day. The doctrine contained int he Book of Mormon helps me get thru tough times with its guidance. I know that the plan of happiness is there for me and you. That families are forever and that I can live with my Heavenly Father again someday thru the saving grace of my elder brother, Jesus Christ who suffered in Gethsemane and died on the cross for my sins and short comings. I know that the gift of repentance is available for everyone and that the joy of forgiveness is immeasurable. I have lived part of my life with out the benefits of church activity or living the church standards. I was not happy. I now have an eternal companion who I am sealed to for time and eternity making my family unit eternal. I hope that someday my two sons will accept the gospel truths and join us.

How I live my faith

I live in a small community where everyone knows each other. When I moved here my only link to was my sister and here family. I started going to church where they gave me a couple of women to visit each month and another women to visit with me so I began making friends right away thru the church. I was given a job to do that involved organizing activities for single adults int he church. I made many dear friends in this group. I have since found my eternal mate in the singles group that I associate with, we are married for time and eternity. We taught the primary children last year and this year we are teaching the youth group ages 12/13. One of the things that I love about the church is that thru involvement i have made friends easily. I never felt like a stranger when I moved here. The people of the church are warm and welcoming. In my pathways school program it is easy to attend the Thursday night meetings in any area that I might be traveling for work or pleasure because the students and missionaries are kind and inviting at their meetings. The church has been a plus in my life for these reasons.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Tamara
I increase my faith in Jesus Christ by personal scripture study, prayer and faith. I believe that if you want to talk to God you should pray. If you want God to talk to you read the scriptures, ponder what is said in them and pray for confirmation and your faith will grow. Faith is things which are hoped for but not seen.
