Hi I'm Sue

I grew up in Oregon, USA. I've recently retired I have five children and eight grandchildren. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just retired a couple of months ago and I'm super excited to have more time to spend with my family. I have two lovely daughters and three wonderful sons, two beautiful granddaughters, and six handsome grandsons. I've mostly lived in the Northwest, Oregon and Washington a very green and very beautiful corner of the United States. I like to read mysteries, historical novels, and inspiring books. I also knit, quilt, and love to sew for my grandchildren. My parents have passed away but I have several Aunts in their nineties and love to visit with them. I have one brother who is just a year older than me and a sister who is ten years older than me. I have three nieces and four nephews.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that Joseph Smith prayed to know which church was correct and received a personal answer from Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I know the fullness of the Gospel has been restored through the Priesthood of God. The missionaries taught me when I was twelve years old, my Mother wasn't interested in religion but she allowed me to be baptized. That was one of the happiest days of my life and one I remember clearly. I have found following the path that Jesus gave us brings joy, direction, and happiness. The Book of Mormon was the first scriptures that I read so it is my favorite but the Bible has become very important to me as well. The scriptures give me comfort, direction, and answers to my questions. I feel so blessed to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I know that Jesus is at the head of the church leading us in the way we should go. I believe the Prophet of the Church, Thomas S. Monson and the twelve Apostles receive revelations from Jesus for the Church. I also know I'm entitled to personal revelation and that prayers are answered which is how I can say I know that Jesus Christ is the savior of the world and that because of his atonement we can return to live with our Heavenly Father again. His Grace and tender mercies give me hope that even a weak person such as I can follow the straight and narrow path to exaltation.

How I live my faith

I try to love my neighbor as Jesus taught. I enjoy teaching the Gospel. I taught or worked with young children for over twenty years. I've also taught adult Bible classes which was very challenging, the young women and the women's Sunday classes. I worked with the single adults for three years - planning multi regional activities. My favorite activity was our annual camping weekend at a ranch in Eastern Washington. I have found my service in the Church to be very rewarding and spiritually fulfilling. I feel I live my faith when I'm serving others especially my family and those I work around.
