Hi I'm Connie

I grew up in Salt Lake City Utah. I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints my whole life.

About Me

My husband and I have been married for 44 years and we have 5 children and 19 grandchildren. I am a college graduate in Home Economics Education but spent the first years of my married life as a stay at home mom. Then when my youngest children were old enough I went to work part time as a substitute teacher and assistant to the county 4H and Home Economist at my county extension office. Later I became a teachers assistant at my local high school in the Resource department helping students with learning disabilities. I enjoy doing crafts with my grandchildren, rock hunting, fishing and reading. When I get the opportunity I like to hunt sea shells on beautiful beaches with my husband. My husband and I also like to do remolding projects around our home.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of faithful ancestors on both sides of my family who sought the truth. My grandparents and great-grand parents joined the church when missionaries taught them the gospel in their native lands of Norway, Sweden and Denmark. After being converted they made the long trip to the United States and then to the Salt Lake Valley in the late 1880's. They were faithful pioneers who raised faithful children and passed this love of the gospel down to me. My parents were not active in the church when they first got married but my mother was patient with my dad and one day when he drop an ash from his cigarette into my big brothers eye he decided it was time to change. They were sealed in the temple when I was very young but I can remember being dressed all in white and climbing the stairs to the sealing room. This has made a world of difference in my life, I grew up doing all the things that an LDS girl does including being married and sealed in the temple and raising a wonderful Mormon family.

How I live my faith

I have spent most of my adult life teaching the youth in my church callings. I have taught all phases of scouting many times sharing positions with my husband. As a mom I prodded my three sons to become Eagle Scouts. When working with the young women in my ward I most enjoyed going to girls camp and was camp director several times. Currently my husband and I are ward missionaries and visit members in our ward who are less active or are part member families. We also visit with the full time missionaries and assist in giving lessons. I was very activity in the 4H program when my children were young and served as the Teen Council Adviser helping them be active in their community.
