Hi I'm Megan Watters

I'm a dancer and a singer. I'm a student and a teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student currently attending BYU-Idaho, though at I couldn't tell you what I'm majoring in. There are just too many choices and I want to choose all of them! I love to learn, about anything and everything. I am originally from Victoria British Columbia, Canada and when I was 15 I moved to Arizona in the United States. My parents are divorced and my mother remarried. I have 4 half siblings all older than me and 1 younger sibling. I also have 3 step siblings whom I have never met. It's been hard having a blended family but we make it work as best we can. Not everyone in my family is a member of the church but we all try to be accepting of each other's choices. Though I love my family and am grateful for my life, it has been hard and that's why I have a great love for dance. I've worked through my emotions and learned to let things go through dancing it out. I also love the outdoors. I camped a lot as a kid and hike a lot now as a young adult. There's something about nature that just brings peace. I don't have too many other hobbies but I do also enjoy photography. Pictures capture the soul in a way. Who knows how. But yeah that's me!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in this church and I can't tell you that I'm one of those people who has always known it's true. It's taken a lot of work for me to get the simple testimony that I have now and I still have a hard time and still have to work. But I can tell you that I have felt more happiness, more peace and more healing through this gospel than through anything else. Some days it feels like I moving backwards rather than forwards in my faith but I know that God loves me and I know that Christ is my savior and my brother and I know that I will be with them again someday. That love is the reason why I am a Mormon. Love is hard to come by in this world and Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ give it freely and continually without condition. Joseph Smith said that a man would get closer to God abiding by the precepts and teachings of the Book of Mormon than through any other book and I truly believe that to be true as I have felt it in my heart.

How I live my faith

I am currently called as a ward missionary, though I have been called as a compassionate service leader, a pianist, and a teacher. I've loved every calling and I truly believe that every calling is absolutely vital. I love the programs that the church has and I try to take every opportunity I can to serve. However I will tell you that as hard I try I do not serve perfectly and sometimes I mess up quite a bit, but thankfully I have a very loving ward. We're all trying to figure out what we can do to help our community, sometimes it works out great and sometimes it doesn't, but that's okay because we all keep trying. That's what matters most in this church is that you keep trying no matter what happens.
