Hi I'm Alyse Walker

I grew up in Pleasant Grove Utah. I love music and theater. I am going to school to go into the medical field. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up watching my dad and brothers in plays and I knew I wanted to do that. I started going to a theater group where I learned about theater. Now theater and music have become some of my greatest loves and my hobbies. I am currently going to college and I am majoring in biochemistry in hopes to help me be accepted into medical school. I will be taking a break from school to serve a mission in England. I come from a family of eight, my mom and dad, four older brothers, and one younger sister. My two oldest brothers are married to wonderful people and both have a daughter. I love my family more than anything else in this world besides my father in heaven.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the LDS faith, my parents are faithful members as well as all my siblings. When I was younger I felt the spirit and took for granted that this church was true, but as I grew older I began to wonder if what I had believed all my life was true. So I took upon myself the quest to find an answer. I searched the scriptures, attended my meetings, asked questions, and approached the gospel with an intent and a desire I had not previously expressed. As I would pray for guidance and confirmation the answers would come little by little, slowly I was gaining a knowledge for myself. There were two experiences that were especially powerful in my faith, the first one being on a hard an lonely day in the 8th grade, dealing with self esteem issues, I said a prayer pleading with my Heavenly Father to show me that he loved me, in the very instance that I asked a warmth and inaudible love overcame me and I knew he loved me. Similarly I had the same warmth when asking if the Book of Mormon was true. My ward had decided to read the Book of Mormon in two days, before we started into reading I prayed to Heavenly Father asking for a confirmation of the truthfulness of the gospel as described in Moroni 10:4 "And when you have received these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you by the power of the Holy Ghost." I believed the answer would come and at the end of the Book of Mormon when we again came upon this very same verse the warmth of spirit confirmed to me that the Book of Mormon was indeed the word of God. I continue to study and learn today, but I will always remember the testament of the Holy Ghost in regards to what I have learned. That is why I know this church to be true.

How I live my faith

I have had the opportunity to serve in many wonderful capacities in the church. I have been able to plan activities and reach out to the youth in the area around me. I was able to plan activities that were in good environments and had an uplifting spirit. I have served as the choir director for the ward as well as music chair and plan the music that will be presented in the meetings and make sure that they glorify our father in heaven. I have also had the opportunity to reach out to those that are struggling with friends or with their faith and welcome them with open arms. I take opportunities to give talks and speak on what I believe and share the faith building experiences I have had in hopes of helping others in their process of conversion.
