Hi I'm Janene

I grew up in Utah. I earned a degree in political science. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I played the tuba in high school and college. I enjoy music. I'm going to go on a mission in March. I have a bachelors degree in political science. I enjoy reading, hiking, kayaking, swimming, knitting, drawing and painting, that doesn't mean I'm really good at these things, I simply enjoy doing them.

Why I am a Mormon

I struggled with the gospel in the past. I'm committed to it now because I love how it makes me feel. I love growing and becoming a better person. I feel happier and more confident. I can relax more because I know God is always with me. That doesn't mean that things are always easy. I often am confused about why certain things have happened. My trials in the past have helped me become who I am now.

How I live my faith

I enjoy living the gospel. I honestly don't love church meetings but I love the feeling I have when I live my beliefs, including going to church. I've been reading extra scriptures daily in anticipation of my mission. I'm trying to learn from the faithful men and women I've read about in the scriptures.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Janene
The simple answer to this is NO! I'm not required to serve a mission. I've never felt pressured into serving a mission. I have a strong desire to serve so that I can serve God. I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to preach the gospel. I considered serving a mission when I was 19 because they changed the age that girls could go to 19 instead of 21. I ended up not going at that time even though my desire was strong because I wasn't ready. Logically it would have made more sense to go at that time and finish my college education after but I know now that I had to gain some more life experience before serving. I've gone through some trials that made my faith so much stronger. I've become much more skilled at speaking and teaching and trusting God. I hope God will be able to use my experiences and personality to reach out to those ready to hear the gospel. Show more Show less
