Hi I'm Emily Acker

I was born and raised in Colorado. I am attending Brigham Young University Idaho. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a student at Brigham Young University Idaho studying Psychology. I hope to someday become an Occupational Therapist, and the dream is to work at a children's hospital in occupational therapy. I am preparing to serve a mission in Louisville, Kentucky and could not be more excited for the opportunity!! I love to play all kinds of sports, I am teaching myself to play the guitar, and I absolutely love the mountains. I love to hike and do any out door activities really! I have a huge extended family and they mean the world to me!

Why I am a Mormon

I wa lucky enough to be born into this church, but it doesn't mean that I haven't asked myself, is this gospel really the true gospel? As a young girl and youth, I was blessed with friends who had the same standards as my own, but I was continually surrounded by others of different standards. I then went to college and realized that if I didn't want to attend church, I no longer had to, I was on my own. But quickly, I realized that nothing makes me happier than the church. I know that what I am taught is truth and that we have a prophet who receives direct word from God. I know that this gospel makes me more happy than anything on this earth, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of Jesus Christ and restored the church. I know that Jesus Christ was our Savior and died for our sins, so that we can live with God and our family again, for time and all eternity, and I am so grateful for that knowledge.

How I live my faith

For as long as I can remember, I have loved to attend any church activities. I attended the Tuesday night mutuals as a youth, girls camps and youth conferences, treks and EFY camps. I love to serve and feel the spirit of Christ in the people that I serve with. I currently teach the 4 years olds every Sunday in primary, and serve at the temple as an ordinance worker every Wednesday. I know that there is nothing more deserving than serving others.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Emily Acker
The Mormon lifestyle may be different from the lifestyle of a regular person, but it has blessed me more than you can imagine. We live everyday trying our best to show our Father in Heaven how grateful we are for his son Jesus Christ's gospel and atonement. We know that this gospel is the true gift of happiness in our lives so we live the laws that it asks us too. We pray every day, multiple times a day, and read our scriptures daily to be able to keep the spirit with us everyday. Show more Show less
