Hi I'm Ashli

I'm currently serving a full-time mission in the Alpine German-Speaking Mission. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I grew up in a big city in Texas, and it was awesome. I was a member of the marching band at my high school for 3 years. I am a freshman in college and am hoping to become an Elementary teacher someday. I love my parents, my brothers, and my sister and I am extremely lucky because they are all incredible examples to me. I love listening to music and playing hymns on the piano. I love to read books and watch movies (my friends would probably say I spend the majority of my time doing those things). I am grateful for the good life that I've had so far and I am excited for what the future holds!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up attending this Church and had wonderful examples all around me, whether it was family, ward members, or amazing friends. I came to know, over and over again, that this Church just had to be true, because if it isn't, what was the point of my life? I have read the Book of Mormon and I prayed about it, and received a quiet answer that it was true. I know that Joseph Smith saw God the Father and Jesus Christ, and that he translated the Book of Mormon by the power of God. I know that the Atonement is real, and that Jesus Christ suffered for not just my sins, but all of my pains and sicknesses. I have felt the Atonement's healing power in my life, in the moments when I needed it the most and even when it was just small things. I know that there is a prophet on Earth today, and that his words, and all the other apostles words, are from God and that everyone should listen to them. I know I can pray to Heavenly Father whenever I want and that He will always, always, always, be there to listen. No matter what. Knowing that He will never leave my side makes me the happiest I've ever been, and nothing can take that away.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith through the little things. I try hard to treat other people as Jesus Christ would have treated them and I hope that through me, by me trying to be like Christ, they can come to know Him better. I talk to my Heavenly Father every day, usually multiple times, because I know that He wants to hear from me and I want to talk to Him. I have learned and know that, no matter what, He will always be there for me. I talk to Him about my day, my struggles, and I pray that He will help me to do better tomorrow. I attend church with my ward every Sunday; not because I have to, but because when I go to Sacrament meeting, I can participate in the Sacrament and be forgiven of my sins. I love attending Sunday School classes because I can hear others testimonies, which helps to strengthen mine. I'm serving a full-time mission right now, and I'll be able to help as many people as possible come unto Christ.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Ashli
All Mormons are not required to serve a mission! It is a voluntary service to the Lord for a period of either 18 months or 2 years. If you serve a mission, you can learn more about yourself and grow closer to God. That being said, those things are totally possible if you do not serve a mission! It should be a decision made between you and Heavenly Father in prayer and maybe fasting. While being a full-time missionary is not a bad thing, it may not be in the plan Heavenly Father has for you. You can be a missionary whether you are wearing a badge or not, when you are baptized you become a representative of the Church and it is a calling for everyone in the Church to be a missionary.
