Hi I'm Hailey

I grew up in Idaho. I am currently serving a mission in Hanoi, Vietnam. I plan on going to medical school. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving a mission in Ha Noi, Viet Nam. I attended Brigham Young University, majoring in physiology/developmental biology & exercise science. I enjoy playing basketball and soccer, and I have played the piano all of my life. I love singing, but can barely carry a tune. I love all things chocolate, and I would eat ice cream for every meal if I could. I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for all of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

This gospel means everything to me. I am happy because I know that I have a loving Heavenly Father and Savior that will be there for me every step of the way. I am comforted through my prayers whenever I am struggling or feeling insecure or worthless. I have hope about the future because I know that God has a plan for me. I am grateful for the plan of salvation and that my family has been sealed for all time and eternity. I couldn't imagine my life without this gospel in it.

How I live my faith

In my ward here at BYU, I teach an hour long class to youth that are my age. I also do visiting teaching with my roommate once a month. I participate in service projects as much as I can and I attend the temple once a week.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Hailey
No, not all Mormons are required to serve a mission. For young men between at the age of 18, a mission is a priesthood duty. Young men should prepare to serve a mission early. For young women, it is not a requirement. If a young women feels that she should serve a mission, she may go at the age of 19. For me, I wasn't always planning on going on a mission. However, one day when I was at the temple, I received a thought in my mind and a feeling that I should consider serving. After many many hours of prayer, scripture study, and temple attendance, I realized that serving a mission is something that I need to do. And now, here I am, with a mission call to Hanoi, Vietnam. Missions are not required for everyone. But it is through missionary work that we are able to spread the gospel and teach others of what makes us so happy. Show more Show less
