Hi I'm Bryony

I love to read, take care of my garden and spend time with my family! I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I've been raised in Victoria, Australia by my loving parents and am the second eldest of four siblings (Now five, including my brand new sister in-law)! I have a very large extended family full of little cousins, aunties and uncles, Grandparents and best friends! Few things bring me more happiness then spending time with my beautiful family, especially my younger cousins. Apart from playing games and having fun with my family, my perfect day would also include relaxing on the beach near my house reading a Jane Austen novel, eating ice cream sundaes and looking after my garden! I also love to play basketball, practise my flute and travel overseas with my family! I'm currently half-way through my degree to become a Primary school teacher, my DREAM career! However my study has been put on hold as I'm preparing to leave Australia for 18 months to serve a full-time mission in England Manchester in a few weeks! I'm beyond excited and can't wait for this amazing adventure to begin!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love my Father in Heaven and my Saviour Jesus Christ! I love the pure joy and peace His gospel brings to my life; how it makes me feel, inspires me to become a better version of myself everyday and how it has blessed me and my family. I'm blessed to have been born and raised in this Church and I have had amazing examples of faith all around me to follow growing up. As I was taught the gospel principles in my home and encouraged to choose the right and follow Jesus Christ's example, I can honestly say that I never felt 'forced' to attend church or 'brainwashed' into believing something that the rest of my family did haha! I was always encouraged to find answers for myself! My mother's favourite motto for us is "Practise and Prove"! How could I know if there is a Heavenly Father who loves me if I never pray to Him? How can I believe the teachings of the Book of Mormon if I don't read it and ask God if they are true? Applying my parent's counsel I did these things and came to grow a testimony of my own, instead of just relying on their experiences. One such memorable experience was when I was 11 and I finished reading the Book of Mormon for the first time. I prayed and asked my Father in Heaven if what I had read was true and if Joseph Smith was truly a prophet. I received my answer and I know with a surety that the Book of Mormon is true from my own experience! I've practised and lived the principles of the gospel and seen how they have blessed my life and inspired me to change! Because of other experiences I've had I know that my Heavenly Father loves me and everyone equally and that I can be with my family forever! I know that because of Jesus Christ's Atonement I can be clean and one day return to live with my Heavenly Father and be like Him. I'm so grateful for this Church and for the answers and truths it brings! I know that if we follow Christ we can all receive endless happiness!

How I live my faith

In my ward I'm currently serving in the Primary program which is for the children aged 5-12. I sometimes teach primary classes on Sunday at church and every second week run the girl's aged 8-12 youth group activity night! On these nights we do a variety of fun and uplifting activities that help the girls to learn gospel principles and to make strong and lasting friendships. It is such a blessing and so much fun to be close with these amazing individuals! They teach me so much and help to strengthen my testimony through their examples and love for the Saviour and Heavenly Father. At church I am involved in the Young Single Adult program for the 18-30 year olds, where we get together and have fun activities as well as classes to learn from each other. I love being around others my age who share the same beliefs and goals as me and whom I am close friends with! I see my responsibilities and service at church as a way for me to help others as well as various ways for me to learn and grow myself. The church community is truly a place where everyone should and can feel that they belong to and are not alone! We all work together to help each other out and to progress together! Other ways that I love my faith is be simply striving to follow Jesus Christ and do what He would have me do everyday! I try to be kind and help those around me and to prayerfully consider what more I can do and change about myself to become a better person so that I can reach out to others as He would. I strive to always strengthen my relationship with my Heavenly Father though prayer and daily scripture study along with church attendance.
