Hi I'm Glenn

I grew up in Idaho. I am a retired Orthodontist, served a mission with my wife for the Nauvoo Pageant. Love to fish & serve God.

About Me

I grew up wanting to be in the cattle business, but during my mission as a young man, my father died. When I came home I continued in the cattle business while an undergraduate student. During tough market years, I decided, if I was going to own cows, I should have a job that would support them. I loved learning and was educated at several Universities including: Idaho State U, BYU, Harvard and U of Washington. I got a dental degree at the U of Washington, served as a dentist for the US Air Force and then went back and did a residency in Othodontics. The profession that I chose gave me time to serve in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I also served on a local school board, hospital board and worked with Boy Scouting both on the troop level and council level. Our family was the most important single thing in the life of my wife and I. The church is the most powerful help in the world for learning principles to parent well your children. Travel in various parts of this earth has impressed me at how beautiful the world, that our Father in Heaven has given us, really is. He has inspired leaders in his church today to help cure some of the world's ills. I love to fish anywhere, anytime, as long as it doesn't take from commitments to the Lord or my family. I especially like to fly-fish or fish for steelhead. My wife and I served a senior mission in Nauvoo to specifically help with the Nauvoo Pageant. I still am in the Presidency of that Pageant.

Why I am a Mormon

At Harvard University in a class on composition in writing, our professor told us to think on a subject--tear it apart and use that which was good. I looked at the church that way. I studied and read while praying during that process. I found that the things that really mattered were contained in the restored church of Jesus Christ. Answer to prayer came with warmth, light and comfort that this was the Lord's answer for the world's needs. The answer to those prayers then prompted me to serve a mission as a young man to try to follow Him the rest of my life. I am so grateful that God, who is literally our Father in Heaven (we are his spiritual children) loves us as much today as he did in Ancient times when he had prophets like Moses and Abraham. Today there are prophets upon the earth also. At the head of this church is a living prophet, given to us by a loving Heavenly parent. I am so grateful to know that Jesus Christ is not only my friend, but far more. He is my Exemplar, my Savior, my Redeemer and my King. That knowledge is the peace that Jesus brings.

How I live my faith

I have had some very interesting experiences directed for service to young people. Several of us saw the need for better lighting for the high school our children attended. We got money and labor donated to complete the additional lighting. We then, from this start, helped create an education foundation for the school, later it was expanded to the whole district. I enjoyed being a scoutmaster for our local troop and later helped with two national jamboree's. One of them, I was a scoutmaster at Fort AP Hill Virginia. I learned a lot while serving on our hospital board. A man who was running for County Commissioner asked if I would be his campaign manager. That was a very interesting step into the political world. I have not run for public office other than running and being elected for two 3 year terms as a member of our school board. I feel it is important to support and help candidates of high moral values who run for office. Serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been such a wonderful experience. I have served as a bishop (local congregation leader) for three different wards (congregations). I have also served our Lord in Stake Presidencies. (A stake is a group of 6 to 12 local congregations for training and teaching purposes) I was asked to preside as a Stake President in a stake made up of congregations of college students. What a choice opportunity to work with young people as they gained knowledge for vocations and spiritual strength to build their families and for personal growth. Life is good, if we try to keep it filled with service and love for those who will try to make the world a better place to live in coming generations.

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Jesus Christ is the Creator and Savior of the whole earth. He has a record of his visit to his followers in Ancient America recorded in the Book of Mormon. In times to come, we may become aware that he visited even more people than we have recorded now. I am grateful for the additional knowledge of Jesus Christ that the Book of Mormon gives us. It adds to the love we gain for Jesus from the Holy Bible. Show more Show less
