Hi I'm Emily

I grew up in Houston, Texas, and Doha, Qatar. I have been assigned to labor in the Indonesia Jakarta Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a sophomore in college, studying to be a nurse. I love music: I have been playing piano and singing my entire life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because this is Christ's church! As I have lived my life with this gospel at its center, I have been blessed in unimaginable ways. That isn't to say that my life hasn't been difficult; of course it has been. But as I've put my faith and trust in my Savior, I have drawn closer to him and He has led me by the hand.

How I live my faith

I am a leader for the other women I go to church with; I meet with my counselors weekly and plan activities, discuss our sisters concerns, and do everything I can to help take care of any of their spiritual and physical needs. Currently, I'm serving as a missionary. Right now, I'm in a Missionary Training Center, studying Indonesian and learning how to be a better teacher. Soon, I'll go to Indonesia and serve there for 18 months.

What do Mormons believe about the Holy Ghost? Who is the Holy Ghost?

The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of God and is a teacher of truth. The Holy Ghost teaches us through feelings of peace, comfort, and love. Most times, the feelings of the Spirit are small and quiet, so much so that if we aren't paying attention, we might miss them. When seeking for answers to questions, we can receive answers through the Holy Ghost. If we pray and ask God in faith, seeking with real intent, the Holy Ghost will answer us. When we feel alone or distressed, the Holy Ghost will comfort us. One of the names of the Holy Ghost is the "comforter" (John 14:26). The Holy Ghost allows us to feel God's love for us.
