Hi I'm Joshua John Allen

I grew up in Las Vegas. I live to find simple happiness through service to others. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a fan of many sports my favorites being Basketball and the best sport of all Rugby. I love music as well, I've learned to play both the Bass Guitar and Guitar and I even played the Bass in my school's Jazz band and a Ska band with some friends. I was attending BYU Idaho however I decided to defer my education for two years in order to serve as a missionary in the Lansing, Michigan mission!

Why I am a Mormon

I have chosen to be a member of this church not because it is a family or cultural expectation as is found in many religions but because The Lord omnipotent has gifted me with the divine personal knowledge that this is the Church that Jesus Christ has himself established on the Earth through the prophet Joseph Smith. I have read the Book of Mormon and as I read I was able to experience the fruits of the spirit as is found in Galatians 5:22-23 which bore witness to me of the truth and divinity of this work. Because I know this work, the Book of Mormon, is the word of God I know that Joseph Smith is a true Prophet of God and that the church he established is the true church of Christ brought forth by the Savior to bring exaltation to the saints of the Latter days.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being obedient, I firmly believe that obedience breeds stronger faith and so I can show my Heavenly Father the faith I have in him by being obedient to his word.

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Joshua John Allen
We can see how important baptism is because even Jesus Christ was baptized in order to be an example for us to follow. Baptism does a couple things for us, it allows us to covenant with God that we will take upon ourselves the name of Jesus Christ and always remember him in our lives and that we will keep the commandments that he has given unto us. This ordinance wipes away our sins and allows us to make this covenant with God. However we will sadly sin again after Baptism because we are imperfect but we get to renew our covenants and be symbolically baptized every week when we attend church and partake of the sacrament. The ordinance of baptism can only be done with the proper priesthood authority of God. This authority to baptize was given by Jesus Christ to the twelve apostles, however after the martyrdom of the Savior and the eventual death of the twelve apostles that authority from God to perform the ordinance of baptism was no longer on the Earth. It needed to be restored so that God's children could utilize Christ's atonement by being baptized and wiped clean from sin and so God restored it through the heavenly angels of Peter, James, and John to the Prophet Joseph Smith.
