Hi I'm Windi

I am an Elementary Education major. I love people. I love to dance. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Even though I was born in Kansas, I grew up in many different places. I have two brothers, four sisters, and a beautiful and hard working mother. Growing up my siblings and I liked to roller blade, play in the dirt, and go swimming anywhere we could find water! One of the houses we lived in had a ginormous irrigation ditch nearby, and whenever we felt like it me and my brother would hop in and go for a swim- clothes and all. I am really grateful for all the experiences I have had in my life that have taught me about the things that matter most. My family worked together, sacrificed together, and persevered together. Growing up this way has really taught me to value family and work hard. I got my first two Jobs at the age of fourteen, and with the help of my mom had the opportunity to start attending college at sixteen. Because of the influence of some fantastic teachers I had in high school, and throughout the course of my education, I started working on getting my Bachelors degree and becoming an Elementary School Teacher. I am 19 years old now, I love to dance, sing, and do pretty much anything active! I know that my savior Jesus Christ loves me, and I know that whatever I have or do come up against he has my back. Throughout my life the Gospel of Jesus Christ has helped me overcome some of my most daunting trials; with the atonement of Jesus Christ what was once impossible became possible. Success and happiness have been achieved in my life by following his plan.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but I most definitely chose and still choose to be a member. The reason I choose to be a member of the "Mormon" church is because it is The Church of Jesus Christ! I gained a very powerful testimony of my Savior Jesus Christ before I gained a testimony that the LDS church was in fact His church. As I grew older I gained a strong testimony that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints does in fact belong to Him. He is the head, He is the founder, He is the leader. Any one who is willing to sincerely pray about their questions, putting aside all inhibitions, can find that answer for themselves. That might be a little confusing at first, especially if you have not yet gained a testimony of the divine origin of the "Mormon Church". But I believe anyone who will put aside their own opinions and pray to God to know His opinion which is the Truth, willing to act on that answer they receive, can find that answer. As a child I remember learning about Jesus and how much he loved me, I felt happy and safe when I learned about Him. Jesus really started to mean something more to me when I started to experience sorrow. I remember feeling alone and unsafe as a child (even though my family took excellent care of me), and praying to Heavenly Father. Heavenly Father would help me feel safe and told me in my heart that I had an older brother named Jesus who would take care of me. Because of this and many other experiences I knew that I had a Father in Heaven and an older brother named Jesus Christ. Now that I knew there was a God, I was very determined to find out what He wanted me to do. I attended several congregations, and proceeded to read The Book of Mormon. Eventually I received an answer from God that there was only one church, "One lord, one faith, one baptism" Ephesians 4:5. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was that church that Jesus Christ had established upon the earth for his children.

How I live my faith

The Savior said in Luke 9:23 "And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me." This scripture to me means doing what the savior asks me to do, no matter what, because I know that he wants what is best for me. I am definitely not perfect, and sometimes I mess up. We are all imperfect without the atonement of Jesus Christ, but because He lives I believe that we have potential to become more like him. I am trying to live my life the way that Jesus would want me, even when it is painful or inconvenient because I know it is worth it! For me personally this includes attending church for three hours every Sunday, attending the Temple weekly, reading scriptures and studying gospel principles for half an hour every morning, only watching movies and listening to music that encourages happy living. I strive to live my faith at work, school, and with my family. Working at a Pre-School with such awesome children, I tried to help them feel so loved they would know how valuable and important they were. In one of my college classes, me and some classmates helped show how we felt Gospel principle could still align with valid philosophy and education. My nephews and nieces know they are some of the most important things in my world. Because gaining and living by Faith is the one true way to happiness, for the next 18 months I will be serving a Mission. On my Mission, I will be living my faith by dedicating all of my time, resources and talents toward teaching my brothers and sisters about our Heavenly Father, and his son Jesus Christ. I hope I can succeed in helping remind those I have conversations with, how important and valuable we all are.
