Hi I'm Jay

I was born with a birth defect. I am an entrepreneur. I started a charity that builds bikes for disabled kids. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I'm the husband of an amazing woman who inspires me to be better. She also makes incredible food. I'm the father of three young girls who make me so happy and keep me laughing all the time. I have an amazing family that has taught me the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I love to read, especially books about the Gospel. My 2 youngest siblings are both serving missions and it inspires me to see their dedication and willingness to serve the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because from an early age I have seen the power of the priesthood in my life. I have been able to witness a miracle as I was healed from a very severe birth defect. I have always known that God lives and that He loves me. I see His influence and power every where I go. I have always felt a closeness to Joseph Smith. As a young boy I grew up in Chicago and got to go to Nauvoo many times. While there I had the Spirit testify to me at a very young age that Joseph Smith was a Prophet and that he had been called by Jesus Christ to restore His church here on the earth.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith every day by studying the scriptures and words of the prophet. After going through a particularly difficult trial two years ago I decided that I needed to change some of my priorities. Since then I have attended the temple at least once a week which has changed my life. It has allowed me to feel so much closer to my Heavenly Father and my Savior. I teach the youth at Church and get to teach them about how to be a missionary.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

We do not worship Joseph Smith. We believe that God has always called Prophets to be messengers and teachers to the human race. Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and many others were called anciently to be a mouthpiece for God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ here on the earth. Before Christ died he called Peter to be the prophet after His death. We believe that in accordance with this ancient pattern God once again calls Prophets and Apostles in our day. Joseph Smith was an instrument in God's hand to restore ongoing revelation and priesthood authority on the Earth. Show more Show less
