Hi I'm Ashlee

I'm a college student. I was baptised while living in Spain. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student and am currently studying psychology. I also love languages, drawing, ceramics, tennis, ice cream, fitness training, and pizza.

Why I am a Mormon

I continue to choose to follow my Lord Jesus Christ and to live in harmony with His gospel because it makes me happy. I have done the things that He has asked of me and have seen the blessings that come from doing those things. That is why I follow Christ. I have felt His love and I have felt the power that following in His footsteps brings into my life.

How I live my faith

In my congregation, I serve as a member of the Family History Council. Family history is something that is very important to me; I love the feeling of being connected to my ancestors as I discover stories about who they were. A lot of what I do involves indexing records, or transcribing them to make them searchable on the computer.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Absolutely! We believe that both the Bible and the Book of Mormon are the word of God. The Book of Mormon is a record, translated by Joseph Smith, of the people living in ancient America and of their dealings with God. The crowning event in the Book of Mormon is Christ's appearance to these people after he had been resurrected. The Book of Mormon is, like the Bible, another testament of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon and the Bible support and complement each other. The Book of Mormon exhorts us to read the Bible and is a second witness to the truthfulness of the Bible's message about Jesus Christ. Our knowledge about God and Jesus Christ is more complete when we use both of these sacred texts. We love and revere both the Book of Mormon and the Bible! Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No, we do not worship Joseph Smith. We worship God and Jesus Christ. We do, however, believe that Joseph Smith was called of God to be a prophet, just as God has called prophets throughout the ages, such as Abraham, Isaiah, and Moses. Joseph Smith was called on by God to restore the fullness of Jesus Christ's gospel on the earth today. When Joseph Smith was a young boy, there were many Christian churches in his home town in New York. He wondered about which one God wanted him to join. So he took the Bible's advice (found in James 1:5) to ask God. He went to a quiet place in the woods near his home. As Joseph Smith knelt down in prayer, the Father and the Son appeared to him. Jesus Christ told him to join none of the churches, and later He directed Joseph Smith in founding The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jesus Christ directs His church from on high through the prophet and the apostles. Show more Show less
