Hi I'm Cooper Flanagan

I'm a Texas Girl living in NYC going for her dream of dancing on Broadway. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a dancer! I love to dance with every fiber of my being and I can't think of anything else that I would rather do. I come from a big family, all of which have been such huge supporters in this dream of mine. I am the aunt to 4 of the cutest munchkins around and I love them so so much. I was raised in Texas, a place that will always have a huge chunk of my heart, but New York has taken the other half of it. I spend a lot of my time auditioning for shows, teaching, and assisting some of the best in the dance industry. However, when I'm not dancing you can see me exploring the city, watching netflix (Criminal Minds and White Collar are seriously the best) and hanging out with friends!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because The Church of Jesus Christ has brought me more joy in life than I ever could imagine. I am a Mormon because I love God and Jesus Christ. I am Mormon because I know that Jesus Christ died and atoned for not only my sins and imperfections, but for everyones. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that it testifies of my Savior Jesus Christ. I know that God knows each and everyone of us better than we could ever imagine, and that He is always there to help lead and guide us through our lives. I've felt His love in countless ways through out my life. I was baptized when i was 8, but it wasn't until I was 16 and going through some very difficult things that I really came to know how much my Savior loved and cared for me. It wasn't until then that I really knew for myself that He is always there, listening, ready to help you and all you have to do is ask for His help and guidance. Through countless prayers, scripture study, and just a willingness to serve others I was able to feel Christ's love as well as develop that love for other people. I am a Mormon because I believe that I am a daughter of God and that I have a greater purpose in life. Being a Mormon taught me that, and it's something that I am extremely grateful for and hold onto each and every day.

How I live my faith

I absolutely love church. There's something about setting aside time each Sunday to go and worship that just brings such peace and joy to ones life. It wasn't until I moved away for college that I really realized how much going to church each week really affected my everyday life. Through the church I have also had the opportunity to serve and meet some of the most incredible people I know. Currently I serve by selecting the hymns we sing as a congregation each week, as well as setting up special musical numbers. The sweet peace and spirit that comes with good uplifting music is something that I've come to really love and look forward to each Sunday. Being a dancer, I'm often put in situations that involve dancing in a show that's not super appropriate, or going out to drink after a show. Growing up my parents always taught me to stand up for the things that I believe in.... Even if it's not the most popular thing to do. And I have to say in my line of work you really have to not be afraid to show who you really are. I've learned to incorporate my faith into my career and not be afraid or ashamed of it. I can honestly say that most if not all of my friends in the dance industry know that I am Mormon, and they respect my decision to say no to the drink, or not take the contract because of the show content. It's been a huge blessing to have such understanding friends, and I'm thankful that I have them in my life to support me in both my career and my faith.
