Hi I'm Briton Demars

I study business at Brigham Young University. I am serving as a missionary in the Brazil Natal Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a guy that loves to stay busy and work hard. I currently study business at Brigham Young University, and I love the college environment and the chance to meet new people and improve myself intellectually and spiritually. I am an avid athlete, and I spend many hours outdoor training by way of running, cycling, and swimming. I take advantage of anytime I get to be in and enjoy God's creations, including hiking, camping, and basically anything else outside. When I can't make it out of the house, I love all types of music, and I love to sing, play piano, and a variety of other instruments. I love to read, and I can never seem to get a hold of enough books to satisfy my thirst for knowledge. I deeply love and care for my family, and I look forward to any chance I get to be with my many siblings and cousins.

Why I am a Mormon

Living such a hectic and often overwhelming life, I don't know how I would be able to endure all that I have without the knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His love for me. The teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints give me strength and hope, but more importantly, it allows me to view my trials from a long-term perspective, and I know that things will be all right because there is a reason I have hard times. Many people think that since I was raised by parents who were members of this Church, I am simply "brainwashed" to believe what my family has believed for several generations. However, as influential as a parent's testimony can be, I have come to a personal knowledge of the existence of a God, and that He is a loving, caring Heavenly Father to all of His children here on the earth. I have felt that love through the works and teachings of God's Son, Jesus Christ, and the sacrifice He made so we all can return to live in heaven once again. This testimony I have of the reality of God and Jesus Christ means more to me than anything else in my life. Without this knowledge, I would not know that I can be with my family forever and that my relationship with them doesn't end at death. My testimony of this church and this Gospel is my most treasured possession which brings me greater happiness than I can express. It is for this reason that I have chosen to serve a mission, and I am so happy to share this message of joy and hope to the people of Brazil. I know that my Savior, Jesus Christ, lives and that we all have a loving Father in Heaven who watches over us day by day.

How I live my faith

I love to serve everyone around me, and I look for every opportunity to do so. I think I got this love of serving when I would go every Sunday to visit the widows in our ward with my dad. He would always make sure they did not feel alone and would always be offering to assist them in any task I could. Now that I'm on my own at college, I still look for ways to serve the people around me. I always feel closest to the Savior when I try to act as He did and comfort the lonely and assist the wounded. I organize the activities for my congregation at church, and I love the feeling I get when I see those around me smiling and having a good time because I took the time and effort to make sure they had fun. I also help out with the local food banks and charity organizations. Back at my home, I organized my high school's food drive to make sure the needy had a hearty dinner for Thanksgiving. I am also serving a mission in Brazil. I am so happy to bring the message of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of that country.
