Hi I'm Sister Hernandez

I love sports, movies, music, and reading. I want to travel the world and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in Idaho and hate the cold but I love snow. I love snowboarding even though I am terrible at it. I love the mountains and of course I love potatoes. I love to play and watch sport. My favorite sports are ice hockey and basketball. Like most my age I love watching movies and keeping up with the newest music artists. Give me a good book and I'll disappear for hours as long as its a fantasy novel with some kind of adventure or quest. However, I do enjoy the occasional classic novel. I hope to on day be a linguist and speak many languages. One that I really want to learn is sign language. I love languages so much because the thought of being able to communicate with people around the world is mind-blogging. I want to travel the world a learn about all the people in it.

Why I am a Mormon

My mother raised my sister, two brothers, and I in the church from a very young age. She was a convert and tried her hardest to instill the values and morals the the Church of Jesus Christ teaches. I am so grateful for the blessing of being raised in the church. I am a Mormon because this gospel brings comfort into my life. When I'm feeling down or alone I know that our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are there for me. I know that I can always turn to them through prayer and ask for strength, guidance, and direction. The values that I have learned though the gospel are irreplaceable.

How I live my faith

Each day I strive to become more like Christ, more loving, more forgiving, more patient. I live my faith by example. I am currently preparing myself to serve a full time mission in South Carolina, Columbia. I know that it is truly an inspired calling and I cant wait to sever the people there and bring my brothers and sister the gospel.

What is the First Vision?

Sister Hernandez
This miraculous event marked the beginning of the Restoration of Christ's church here on earth. We know that Joseph Smith was a young boy confused by the religious differences around him and that he wanted to what was the one church that Christ had established while he was here upon the Earth. While reading in the Bible he cam across a verse, James 1:5, which states "if any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God." Joseph felt as though he lacked the wisdom to decide for himself what God wanted him to do so he did as the scripture instructed and prayed to know what God wanted for him. The first vision refers to Joseph's prayer and the answer the received. Joseph saw a vision of God the Father and Jesus Christ. The two of them appeared to him. He was told not to join any of the other churches because none had the authority of God. That authority was taken from the earth with Christ's Crucifixion and with the death of his apostles. He was then called to be a prophet of God just as in times before. I know that Joseph experience may be hard to believe. He himself said that he might not believe it if he had not experienced it for himself, but that is why God has given us proof. Proof that we can physically hold in our hands, The Book of Mormon.
