Hi I'm Steve

I have lived in nine different states. Recently I retired from a career in law enforcement. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have six children and 18 grandchildren. At this stage of my life they keep me very busy...a really rewarding and crazy busy. Other things that have filled my life through the years are sports, motorcycles, flying, house building, shooting, fast cars, travel, and other adrenaline activities. I have been in every state in the United States. I love this country!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that has roots running back to when the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was formed. This, however, is not why I am a Mormon. I came to point in my life where I needed to know whether what I was involved in was really true or not. Even though I had been a member my whole life, I found that was not enough. I realized that I had to meet the standard our Father in Heaven and the Lord Jesus Christ gave to really know...I had to ask. So I read the Book of Mormon praying, with real intent, asking if the Book of Mormon was another witness of Christ like the Bible. I prayed if prophets were real and did they receive revelation to guide and direct us. I prayed about everything that was a question in my mind. Through this process and trying to live what I knew were commandments from Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ, over time I gained a testimony that Joseph Smith was a prophet. That he did see Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and under their direction restored the church Jesus Christ had organized while he was on the earth. I am so thankful for this testimony and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Through the good and bad times, this has been the sustaining force of my life.

How I live my faith

One great truth I have learned in my life is the value of service. I have benefited throughout my life by serving others and believing that life has a purpose. Faith has played a large part of my life's journey. I find peace and happiness in knowing I can pray and work on my relationship with my Father in Heaven and my Savior, Jesus Christ. I love the friendships that we can have one with another and value the differences in each person on this earth. How lucky we are to have each other. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I have been given the opportunity to serve and learn with others. This, along with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, has given me the values I treasure and try to live by.
