Hi I'm Lisa Brinkerhoff

My son & I joined the church in 1999. My husband & I are serving a mission in Tucson, AZ on March 7, 2016. Lisa L. Brinkerhoff

About Me

I was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on the campus of the University of Alabama. My dad was in the Air Force while I was growing up; therefore, I lived in Texas for 2 years, California for 6 years, Nevada for 3 years, Frankfort, Germany for 3 years, & lastly, Fort Worth, Texas. I consider myself a Texan. I have a BS in Education, MEd in Counseling & Guidance, & an Administrator's certificate. I spent 22 years in the field of education & 22 years in business. My son & I joined the church 16 1/2 years ago & it was the best decision of our lives! My son's best friend was Mormon, & his large, extended family became best friends with our little family. We joined the church 3 years after meeting this wonderful family. I was raised in the Presbyterian & Methodist religions. I married my sweet husband 1 1/2 years ago, after being single for 21 years. Together we have 6 children & 14 grandchildren (there are at least 4 more to come!). I love being a mother, & a 'BONUS' mother & grandmother to all of these precious, loving souls I have the privilege of being with. I love to read and to provide service to my family and those in need. My husband & I love to travel & experience new and different cultures, along with meet new people. I absolutely love watching movies about true events & history. We are active in our church and ward, & the majority of our social events and friends surround church activities. My husband & I leave for a 1 year mission in Tucson, Arizona on March 7, 2016.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for so many reasons: 1) It helps me understand why I am on this earth 2) and, what I am suppose to do while on earth to return to live with our Heavenly Father 3) It makes complete sense to me that we have a living Prophet on earth to give us direction & guidance as he harkens to the words of our Heavenly Father & Jesus Christ 4) I have always know that God, Jesus Christ, & the Holy Ghost were all 3 separate beings 5) Through my reading & prayer, I know that the Book of Mormon is a companion piece to the Bible & that it provides valuable & true knowledge, which we do not have without this book 6) It is my desire to live eternally with my husband & my family & it is only through this gospel that this can occur 7) I love the guidance and counsel we receive through our church leaders, which will assist us as we try to live worthy lives on earth today 8) I believe in surrounding ourselves with good, kind, righteous people & I have found that in attending the Mormon church 9) The peace found in God's temples and places of worship is profound & I leave wanting more of this peace in my life 10) It is my blessing to pay the Lord 10% of that which He willingly has given us 11) The opportunity to serve others has strengthened & blessed my life tremendously, along with making me a better and kinder person 12) Attending church and partaking of the Sacrament every Sunday is a blessing in my life to ask for forgiveness of my sins 13) The genealogy work for our ancestors is another strong attribute of the church 14) The opportunity to constantly learn and grow spiritually is consistent throughout the church 15) The Mormon church is consistently one of the first, if not the first, organization to come to the aid of those in unfortunate situations: like tornados, flooding, hurricanes, on and on The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-Day Saints IS my life & I love it with all of my heart. 16) Where else could I be sealed to my husband for time and all eternity?

How I live my faith

I live my faith by: 1) Reading the scriptures everyday with my husband 2) Paying my tithing each month to the Lord 3) Praying every morning & night 4) Fulfilling my church responsibility in whatever capacity it is at the time 5) Being kind and loving to those around me 6) Keeping up with our children & grandchildren; their lives and activities 7) Being a good, attentive girlfriend to my friends 8) Loving/caring for my husband and eternal companion 9) Attending all of my church meetings on Sunday and other days depending on my responsibility in the church 10) Following the counsel of our church leaders & heeding their guidance 11) Attending the temple monthly, & weekly, whenever I can 12) Providing meals for those in need 13) Doing my visiting teaching monthly 14) Going on a full time mission to Tucson, Arizona for 1 year 15) Completing a service mission locally with my husband for one year with the Pathway program through BYU Idaho. 16) Trying to be nonjudgmental of others' lifestyles & choices they make 17) Trying to always be 'inclusive' when inviting others to do something or go somewhere 18) Trying to be a friend to those in need of a friend All of these things above, along with so many others that I can not list at this time, relate how I live my faith.
