Hi I'm Zachary

I was born in Nebraska, but have lived in here in the beautiful state of Minnesota most of my life. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I've been home-schooled since age 8, and I've loved it. I graduated from a community college with an associate in arts degree and am now preparing to serve as a missionary. I love being a home with my Mom, Dad, and six siblings. We love being outside--hiking, canoeing, camping, fishing. Living in Minnesota, I love the Boundary Waters up north! It's so beautiful and peaceful up there without all the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Bird-watching is another of my hobbies; I can identify most North-American birds by sight. I love being outside and working in my flower and vegetable gardens; also, I take the seeds from exotic fruit that I eat and grow them as house-plants(grapefruit, lemon, starfruit, kiwi, pomegranate, dates, etc). Try it; it's cool! I play and teach piano and love good music. I love researching my family ancestry and learning about what their lives were like. I speak Spanish and have been called to serve a mission in Mexico.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and they have taught me the gospel of Jesus Christ ever since I was young. I'm so grateful for their example and their teachings. I know for myself that happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come comes through following the path that Jesus Christ has set for us. I know by the witness of the Spirit of God that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of all mankind. I know that through His Atonement, we can become clean from mistakes we make that would cause us to be unworthy to receive eternal life. I love Him. I know by the same Spirit, that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God. He was called of God to restore the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth. Through him, true priesthood authority has been restored to earth. We have living Prophets and Apostles today! Through Joseph Smith, we have Another Testament of Jesus Christ--The Book of Mormon. I know as surely as I know that the sun rises in the east, that the Book fo Mormon is true. I've read it, and I've read it again and again because of the powerful witness of the Holy Spirit that comes to my heart as I do so. The doctrines taught in the Book of Mormon are the doctrines of Christ in their simplicity. I love this book. As I mentioned before, we have living prophets and apostles on the earth today; I know they are true men called of God. The things they teach are priceless; they teach the gospel of Jesus Christ. And, truly following Jesus Christ leads to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come with our families. I testify of that.

How I live my faith

As a follower of Jesus Christ, I strive to follow His example in everything I do. I make daily prayer and scripture study my highest priority. At church on Sunday, I teach a Sunday School class about the basic doctrines and principles of the gospel. I love sharing what I know about the gospel of Jesus Christ with others in that classroom setting, and anywhere! Jesus Christ has commanded us to share His gospel with others, and I do my best. Family is central to God's plan. I try to spend meaningful time with my family every day because I know that through Heavenly Father's plan, families can be together forever. I love my family. I've volunteered in the community, serving at a local rest-home, playing piano music at a local hospital, and helping with many service projects. Serving others is an important part of Christ's gospel. I go to the Temple often. In the Temple, we do ordinances like baptism for those who have died and never had the chance in life. That's one reason I love researching my family ancestry: I want my ancestors to be able to have those saving ordinances performed. Also in the Temple, families can be sealed together for time and all eternity. That's one of the most beautiful doctines I know of.
