Hi I'm Tara

I was baptized when I was 19, and am getting ready to leave on my mission at 21! I love my Savior Jesus Christ so much!

About Me

I am a sophomore in college, and part of the military. I have one sister who is my best friend, and the world's most amazing parents. I am a convert, so they are not members... yet :) I joined the church almost two years ago, and am getting ready to leave on my mission! I am so grateful for the gospel in my life, and every single person who has been a part of my journey, who has helped me grow closer to Jesus Christ in some way! I truly believe that this is Christ's church, that he has once again organized. I feel so grateful to have found it because it brings me closer to my Savior, and I have learned so much truth. I can recognize the Holy Spirit better now, and feel like I have learned so much in a short time :)

Why I am a Mormon

I am amazed when I look back on the path that Jesus has taken me on, it is so awesome to see the perfect way that Heavenly Father has always had His hand in my life. I joined a Baptist church about two years before I joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am so thankful for that experience, and all of the people that helped me to get into the Bible, and bring me closer to my Savior. I am also very thankful for all of the people who shared this gospel with me and helped me along the way to continue to learn more and more truth, and accept all of the knowledge, peace, and joy that comes from the restored gospel. I took lessons with missionaries for about 9 months. I had a lot of questions, and to be honest was not open minded to the possibility of "more", but I'm so glad no one gave up on me. It took a change of heart and desire to start receiving the answers I was praying for. When I really wanted to know if the Book of Mormon was true, and was willing to accept what ever answer God gave me, the Holy Spirit started working. I knew that there was truth in the Book of Mormon because God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, which I read in 1 Nephi 10:18. And I felt like I needed to take a step out on faith, and be baptized before receiving further answers, so I did. That wasn't the end of things though, I stopped reading the Book of Mormon a few months later and doubts crept back in, but ven through that, God put me back on the path and I realized I'd gained a testimony of so many things. Reading "Our Search for Happiness" helped me recognize that. I believe that God has called 12 apostles just the way Christ set His church up when He was on the earth. I believe that God is the same yesterday, today and forever, and that He continues to lead and guide His church through a prophet today. I believe that the same priesthood authority John needed to baptize Jesus with, is once again on the earth, governing Christ's church. I know my Savior lives!

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by paying close attention to the Spirit, and striving each day to be more like my Savior. I am an imperfect human being, but each day I am given opportunities to love and serve others around me, and share the light that was shared with me! I think there are two major ways that we can show God we love Him and that we are so grateful for our Savior and the atonement. To me one of those ways are loving and serving others, Matthew 25:40 "... Inasmuch as ye have done it unto the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." The other way is to keep God's commandments. We show Him that we care about what He asks us to do, and trust that it is best. It also shows that we are thankful for the debt that has been paid for our sins through Jesus Christ, and we want the atonement to work in our lives, and not take it for granted. This is plainly stated in John 14:15 "If ye love me, keep my commandments." Again, I am no where near perfect, and fail daily, but that doesn't stop me from striving every day. I know Heavenly Father's plan is perfect, and I trust Him and want to align my will with His as much as possible.
