Hi I'm Hugh

I've lived in Ireland, Israel, Massachusetts, California, Idaho, and Montana. I have five siblings. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from a small farming/ranching town in Montana. I love sports and played football and basketball and ran track through high school. I love watching college football and basketball especially. One of my favorite experiences with basketball was last April, when my dad and I went to the March Madness Final Four. I also enjoy playing music. I play the trumpet, the piano, and am learning the guitar. I was in my high school's band and choir. I love the outdoors, whether it's hiking, camping, skiing, or fishing and hunting. I enjoy hearing stories, whether it be through books or movies. I have a goal to both publish a novel and direct a film at some point in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have faith that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. I was born and raised in the LDS Church, but I've developed my own testimony and truly believe in Jesus Christ. It is a huge blessing in my life to have the reassurance and comfort that come from faith in Christ. I believe in a Heavenly Father, and that He has a plan of happiness for us on earth. I believe that Christ is the Son of God and died for our sins, so that we can repent and return to live with Heavenly Father. I believe that Joseph Smith was truly a prophet of God and that he translated the Book of Mormon through divine inspiration. I believe that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and can bring happiness to people's lives. Like I said, my belief in these things gives me comfort, and is a great foundation for my life.

How I live my faith

Here in rural Montana the closest LDS church building is a branch thats 40 miles away. I've made that journey hundreds of times now. That's one of the main ways I live my faith: by attending church meetings every week. I live my faith through church callings. I have had several callings, such as leading music and teaching Sunday School. Home teaching is another, where you and a companion go and visit families from you ward/branch. I try to live my faith daily through prayer and scripture study. Also, being kind to others and living the standards of the church are ways that I live my faith. Obviously I fail often, but that's one of the main points of the gospel: no matter how often I fail, I can always repent and pick myself back up and keep trying to do better.
