Hi I'm Maggie Brown

I grew up in Chicago. I'm serving as a missionary in Moscow, Russia. I'm a student and lover of food and traveling. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Chicago as the youngest of three. I loved spending time in the city and having the opportunity to discover amazing food, museums, and festivals. I spent most summers at Lake Michigan and currently, I'm a student in Utah and am pursuing a degree in nursing. I love being so close to the mountains and having the opportunity to hike and camp. I have been called to serve on a volunteer mission for the church in Moscow, Russia on June 1 and can't wait!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, but have learned through my own study, experience, and faith about the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that because of my faith I stay grounded and focused on the things in life that are most important. The gospel of Jesus Christ provides me with peace and reassurance unlike anything else in my life and helps me to answer important questions like where I came from and where I'm going. I know that I can pray and that I have a Heavenly Father and brother, Jesus Christ, that know me individually and love me. I want to serve a mission because the gospel provides me with so much happiness and am excited to have the opportunity to share it with others.

How I live my faith

My faith is one of the most important things that keeps me grounded and on track. I begin each and every day with prayer and studying the scriptures to get started on the right foot and choose to live up to the standards established by the church. Even though I'm a typical college student in most ways, I attend church every Sunday and choose not to drink alcohol. These things keep me grounded and help me to focus on the things in my life that are most important. Families are the most important unit in the gospel of Jesus Christ, and I love spending time with mine.

What is faith?

Maggie Brown
As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we know that faith is believing in things that can't be seen, but that are true. Of course no one can ever really absolutely prove that there is a God, but we have to have trust in our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Part of being a Mormon is relying on the things we know that are true. We believe that doubt is okay and is essential in growth and learning, but that faith can keep us moving forward. When believe that to have faith is to have power. There is no use in having faith if we don't act on it. Show more Show less
