Hi I'm Joyce

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Utah and I am a Mother of 6 children and grandmother of 20.

About Me

I am 65 years old and a Grandma, mother and wife. I have a wonderful husband, 20 amazing grandchildren, and 6 incredible children and their spouses that I love. My husband and I have been married for 47 years and we have lived in Utah all our lives except when my husband was in the Air force for 4 years. We are retiring very soon and are excited to be going on an 18 month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) in Nauvoo, Illinois. I love to sew and read. I have done scrap booking in the past, but hope to do more after our mission. My favorite thing to do is to spend time with my husband, children and grandchildren at our family cabin. My family is the joy of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am happy to be a Mormon for many reasons. I love my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and rely on their strength to help me to be a better person. I was baptized a member of the church when I was 8 years old and given the gift of the Holy Ghost. I know that I am a daughter of God and that he loves me and knows me. I have been taught this simple truth since I was a child and I know it is true. The Mormon church has helped me to raise my family with God at the center of our lives. We are taught to pray and ask God if we need his help or comfort. I have had many experiences with answers to prayers coming in many different forms. I have always felt that God listens and knows my needs and will be there to strengthen me if I ask. I know my family that has already passed away are waiting for me and we will be together as an eternal family if I continue to do my best to live a righteous life. Having an eternal family through the blessings of the temple is a great comfort to me and helped me to accept the loss of my parents and sibling. I love the knowledge and peace that the Mormon religion gives to all of us. Being a Mormon brings me great joy.

How I live my faith

I love to serve others in my church. I have had many opportunities to work with children from nursery age (18 months) to 18 year old young adults. I love spending time talking with the youth of our church and learning from them the joys and hardships of their lives. I have gone to girls camp with the youth of our church many times and love being in the mountains with these choice young women. Teaching the youth about the Savior Jesus Christ is a great blessing in my life. I have also been able to get to know many of the elderly people in our church and spend time every month visiting them and growing from their life experiences they share with me. They have taught me much about life and enduring to the end thru many challenges and trials. The last few years I have been organizing a night meeting once a month for the women of our church to come and learn new skills or just spend time together getting to know one another better. I have been given the blessing of serving in the temple once a week an enjoy so much feeling the Spirit of the Lord in the temple as I serve there. Every time I have a chance to serve the Lord it helps me to feel peace and comfort in my life.
